看白勇，说比较从句谓语与主句谓语相同，可用do did or does代替

主句谓语动词短语使用“助动词或情态动词+verb”的形式，比较从句往往省略verb，保留助动词或情态动词。

比较从句的主语和谓语与主句的主语和谓语相同时，可以全部省略去，常常保留介词短语或状语从句。

请问：如何解释如下两道题！完全矛盾啊~~~

在第一道中，两个从句不是主从关系，the site of an ancient civilization 这个名词短语标志了这是一个同位语从句。

在第二道中，应该注意，“比较从句的主语和谓语与主句的主语和谓语相同时，可以全部省略去，常常保留介词短语或状语从句”有一个前提是than之后的名词或代词不会引起歧义。题中than前后分别有economy和the particulars，是可能引起歧义的。

所以第二道题需要补出助动词。C,E候选。通过比较，C明显比E简洁。选C
