A想表达的是一个比较，但是仅有一个as无法表达这种关系，仔细比较一下A和D就能发现这个差异。

有点疑问啊,be as...as 中间部分一般可以前后共享,但D的"as...as"里夹了个"to the development of surgery "看上去不爽.

我意识到了A选项只有一个AS，但是我想这里的AS用法是：引导句子，表比较。

A中缺乏明确的比较对象，而D就避免了这个问题，A as essential ... as B明确比较对象是A和B在essential方面。

我觉得A可理解为"anesthesia was essential 就如同/类似于/好像 propeller was essential",不需要对essential作程度上的比较,

lucre gg是不是认为，A的结构是B was as A was, 有点类似于As A do, B do? 我觉得这样的结构，应该要有逗号. 这点只是感觉，请NN指正。

as ... as 比较的共同部分essential被省略了, to the development surgery不能省，因为不是共同的部分. 麻醉对手术发展是essential的，而不是对有动力的飞机essential.

As A do, B do一定要有逗号, 但A do (,) as B do却不一定

可以举个例子吗？如果A do as B do的话，那么句子里有两个主语，我感觉这好像是不允许的，除了比较句，如as ... as/ than。

D里面有两个as啊，按照你的说法，A as xx as B, B应该是第二个as后面的部分啊,

so B=the invention of the propeller
