后面省略了microcomputers。

前面是one microcomputer所以只能用is，其实是可数名词数量（即复数）比较的概念。

如果补全的话，E该怎么补啊，非常感谢。

不是这样理解的。题目说现在是每32个pupils有一台microcomputer，但总数不知道有多少。如果只有32个pupils，则有一台microcomputer。如果有320个，就有10台。而这个数字是4年前的4倍。所以4年前的microcomputer本身是个复数。were后面省略的是microcomputers.
