75.中世纪女权
P1 - Our evidence suggests neither a great transition nor a medieval 'golden age' in the history of women's relationship with guilds.
Our index of women's work provide measures not only the perceived value of women's work but also women's earning power.
P2 - 4 measures suggest no divide between medieval golden gae and an early-modern age
We must review changes with scepticism. For:
1/ short duration
e.g. post-BD wage increase,
bargain
many guild ordinances against women's work are common during difficult year but rare before and thereafter.
=> need to study these changes, but remember they were small and temporary, not tranformations.
P3 - 2/ even the most positive shifts affected only a tiny minority of women.
e.g. improvement in the working opportunities of women after the plague.
P4 - 3/ these changes must be placed within a context of enduring continuities in the circumstances, status and experiences of women workers.
P5 - To sum up, my argument is perceptual. My disagreement is more substantial.
The scholars who work with the paradigm of transformation see within a different framework.
