Dear Insead students, I have a few questions about application...

from the INSEAD website, it appears they take about 450 students per year, and only 150 students in Singapore.  My questions are:

1. how many people applied for 2008 (or acceptance rate average per year, any specifica info on Singapore campus?)

2. the website says it's the same to apply in either run.. should I try to apply in 2nd run instead of 3rd (if scholorship is not of concern?)

3. is it possible that I would be accepted to INSEAD but there's no seat for Singapore campus?  How to better ensure that I get a seat in Singapore (that's quite important for me because of family issue)

Thanks again!

1. Overall acceptance rate is 25% - 30%. Not sure about this year but used to be around 40% for Chinese students. (2007 stats)

2. Try to avoid the last round for Jan intake and last two rounds for Sep intake. For Sep 2008 intake there are already 18 Chinese even before the 3rd round ends, so not many seats left.

3. I have not heard of any case where the campus choice is rejected. If that happened it must only apply to the late applicants.

I think overall is less than 20%, which i got from business week

for chinese, 40% is a bit too optimistic, in my opponion

the admit rate for an individual is either 0% or 100%, though

emm.. the data is from some internal reference material. however it's for one intake only and may not reflect the general trend. anyway, agree that the ratio doesn't matter much when it comes to individuals.

hi, dear all, first show my respect for you all.  here  I feel the insead style, nice people, talented, warm-hearted, well-educated, low-key, dynamic.....

I would be in Insead this year August. I would like to have your opinions on the following questions:

1. scholarship application, averagely, for students from mainland china. how is the percentage?

2. for july intakers, when is the hot season/month/period for job hunting.

3.If I plan the trip to WT in P5 in May 2009, would that be harmful for job searching.

Looking forward..... many thanks in advance. !

thank you for your comment!!!

1, you may browse this thread for scholarship

2, the job hunting season is right now (march/april/may)

3, location does matter, just put yourself into recruiters' shoes

你确定?麦家和波家在大中华能给到80万一年????nnm拿到offer没啊?拿到给确定一下,多谢。

      42万,可能是INSEAD毕业去CONSULTING FIRM半年的工资!

all the top tier consulting firms, namely mck/bcg/atk/lek/monitor/ow/bah etc etc, pay more than 80w, including bonus

i mean in mainland china

i haven't graduated

and in fact, getting offer from any of the above firms is a very very tough job

but to get an offer from these firms, you definitely need an MBA from top-tier b-school

let me give you an example, from what i just got from a bcg recruiter last week

-- overall, the admission rate of bcg is less than 1%

-- bcg made 240 offers to INSEAD in the last 3 years, but less than half were accepted, simply because it's not a fair game: good people get all the offers

-- globally, 90%+ of new MBA hires are from US m-7 and INSEAD + LBS; and 40%~50% from 3 schools: HBS, Wharton and INSEAD, partially due to the size of these programs (800+)

-- bcg china (beijing+shanghai+hongkong) made roughly 40 offers in 2007/2008 recruiting season, to all the b-schools; i know 3 of the offeree from INSEAD's december graduates(but INSEAD has 2 intakes, so there is an special off-circle recruiting campain for INSEAD July graduates, of which i am one) none from chinese b-schools as far as i know

hope this helps

These two claims are not accuate enough.

1. So far as I know from the partner responsible for Great China recruiting, 40 offers include both associate and consultant position (about half-half split). For consultant offers, they are not all extended to B-school students. In recent years, BCG also put a lot efforts recruiting consultants from top PHD programme in US and UK, e.g. Stanford, Oxford. That being said, the number of offers for B-school students are much less than 40 / year.

2. Though BCG does not often recruit students from B-schools other than so-called "top 10", I do see some unusual cases. For current BCG employees working in Greater China region, there is at least one (or maybe two) from CEIBS. Also some random cases for other "smaller" B-schools in US and Europe. I believe these people have their unique strength to contribute to the firm.
