第一页：1. 20年前我做过一个实验，很有结果。实验室这样的：对2岁半的小孩和3岁的小孩进行测试。给他们看一个模型屋子，让他看到，把塑料玩具小狗藏去到沙发背后的过程。然后把这个小孩放到1:1的真实屋子里，看他是否能找到玩具狗。 实验发现3岁小孩都可以，2岁半小孩都不能够。
说明2岁半小孩还不具备在模型屋子和真实屋子之间的对应的思考能力。
人和动物的区别在于创造力和对符号的掌控力。这些能力让我们能够将信息代代相传，能够创造文化，能够从间接经验中学习。比如人类从没见过恐龙，但是能知晓很多关于恐龙的信息。还有什么比小孩理解和使用符号，在现代社会中更为重要的呢？
2.婴幼儿最开始掌握的符号就是图片。读图对我们来说很简单，但在婴幼儿严重很复杂，一个是图形本身，另外是图形所代表的的象征意义。观测者必须两个都能理解而且理解两者之间的关系。
3. 几年前一个主张说婴儿并不具备读图的能力。我和3个专家开始研究，开始我们以为婴儿的行为很难观测，但，幸运的是，我们错了。
4.实验开始很简单-给9个月大的孩子看逼真的图片，他们试图去抓去图上的物品，
5.我们有机会全面的看到实验结果，人类学家AG把实验用的图片和录像带去测试Beng 部落里的婴孩，他们被妈妈圈在怀里，旁边有鸡和山羊闲散的漫步，我们给他们看他们从未见过的图片，他们的反应和美国的婴孩是一样的。
6. 总之小孩需要几年时间去完全理解图片，专家HF 研究发现，4岁的小孩总是以为如果把爆米花碗的图片倒过来的话，爆米花会从碗里掉出来。
7.图片不是唯一的一种符号，我们观察到过小孩在模型屋里试图在微型模型沙发上躺下来，专家U和R也在家看到过小孩子试图躺进玩具沙发里。
这方面的结论还有待我们去研究。
