A company came up with an idea of getting people work into teams to finish projects since the company believed this method will result in good performance. After six months try, there is just the opposite result. The professor refutes the idea shown in the passage that the team can react more quickly to make the decision. In fact, in order to achieve a final decision, the team needs spend even more time that before. It needs to meet and research. Another point the team may hinder the process of the project is that in the team there must be some person is influential. When the leader says the proposal cannot work then the team just drop it without any correction. At the same time, if the leader convinces the whole team the plan will be good, the team will move on to it without consideration of whether it works or not.

Another important point shown in the reading material is that taking part i a group process can be rewarding for members of the team, but the listening presents a conflicting viewpoint that it does not work like this. The work of the team is assessed as a whole. If the project is failed, all members are to blame. This is the result that no one wants to see especially the members truly make a lot of effort.

As the old saying goes, people are divided by types. It is easy to understand that friends are people who share some similar characters with you. We often make friends with people who have the same hobbies, similar education background and even a close social network.

To begin with, friendship is based on the same interest. If you want to better know a person, the first question you may ask must be what are his hobbies. We can know the answer through his friends since we often make friends with person like the same thing. I am a fan of a famous rock band. In the fans club, I met with one of my best friend Erica. Besides the music we are all crazy about, we still have other common interests such as Japanese literature and old movies. During the weekends, we often gather together to join the old movie salon or share comments about the book we read recently.

Additionally, most of our friends are our classmates so we have similar education background. Have you ever had the experience of eating with students who majored in Biology? If you say no, I only want to say how lucky you are. However the sad thing is that I had such kind of experience and I do not want to have it any more. During the lunchtime, the biology student kept describing the process of operating on frogs. It is so disgusting! However other persons who are also majored in Biology ate as normal. Then I suddenly realise why I could never make friends with the person major in Biology or Medical Science.

The last point you can know about a person through his friend is the social circle. We must admit that social circle is a complex thing but it can reflect what kind of person he is in some ways. If the person often communicates with teachers, he is more likely to be exposed to new knowledge and scientific researches. At the same time, if the friends of a person are mainly business man, which may not confirm he is a rich man, but we can articulate that he might have a job related to business.

To sum up, the kind of person we are decides the type of friends we have and vice versa. It can be a good way to know a person through the friends he has and acknowledge his interests, education background or even social circle.

Nowadays, the society stresses more on the ability of creation, however, in my mind, a practical plan can handle more situations when facing problems. Thus, being carefully planning results more often in better solutions.

For one thing, life is not always full of novel things. The problems we often meet are mostly ordinary ones. Take the life of a housewife as an example, the daily works of hers are all about cooking, laundering and shopping. She does not need something creative to tutor her solving the problems which happen everyday. Only the practical plan and the common senses could help her get out of puzzles. In this way, during our daily lives, the creative ideas seem not work as expected.

Additionally, having a careful plan means we can handle most situations within our participants. We all have plans about the time when we need to get up to catch the bus. Meanwhile, we all have the experience of watch the bus you were planning to take just  passing by only if you get up just several minutes earlier. At this time, even the most creative ideas cannot make up for the losing minutes. We must admit that only the careful plan is far from enough. The final goal of setting a plan is to give your a direction when facing difficulties. Only in this way, the careful plans can do us a favor.

The last point is that even the most ordinary plans still need a creative mind. An ordinary plan does not mean a plan without logic. If the plan is useless by just taking a glance at, how it can direct us? When I decided to recite words to improve my English, I made a plan of remembered 700 words a day. It was really painstaking! It was easy to keep the plan for only one or two days, but it really required a lot of time and patience to keep it more than one week. Finally I failed. After getting the experience of how to make plan, I changed it to recite only 50 words a day. And you know what, I have kept doing this more than 400 days. It is so true that a logical plan is half of success.

To sum up, creative mind can make people say “wow” in some circumstance, but it cannot work all the time since we do not have that much of complex challenge to deal with. A careful plan is the really helper when we face with difficulties. Every time we turn to it, we can know it will bring us a good news.

The reading material expresses a lot of concerns about the result because the business may be an unfortunate development for both scientists and general public. However, the professor says that the business’s benefits overate its disadvantages for several reasons.

First, the professor refutes the idea of the article that the public will have less access to fossils. In contrast, the public will have more exposure to the fossils for some reasons. The large amount of business trade of the fossils will make public have more chance to see the fossils. The more trade of fossils, the more purchase of them. Then some scientific constitution will have more resources to explain to the public.

On the second place, the professor does not accept the opinion that scientist are likely to lose access to some of the most important fossils. The assertion is not realistic. The reality is that every fossil need to be passed from the hand of scientists. Then the fossils can get into the market or some other places. Only scientists can give the fossil detailed identity. In this circumstance, scientists will not lose any chance of researching and studying the fossils.

The last point that the professor disagrees with the reading is that the finding of fossils will in turn bring more fossils for the research of scientists. Nowadays, thanks to the discovery, scientists can have access to more fossils to collect more data information. It is truly one of the advantages of letting fossils going into the commercial business.

People nowadays always feel awesome about how frequently the knowledge changes. Due to the development of the Internet and easy access to more sources, not only we as students but also teachers who deliver knowledge should keep up with the new ideas. However, is it necessary for all teachers to update their knowledge every five years? I bet my answer is no.

For one thing, not all teachers have the money and time to get the new training courses. Some teachers, especially in some poor areas, even face difficulties getting their wages on time. If they are required to take courses, it will no doubt bring much pressure on their financial situation. Besides the cost, the time is also a key factor that need to be taken into consideration. During my high school, all our teachers were so busy that they even work late to correct our papers or prepare for the classes, let alone spend extra time to take courses.

Additionally, taking courses may not be the most suitable way since we have many other more convenient methods. With the advanced Internet, we can do almost everything online. Recently many people try to take online courses through MOOC, which is an online platform provides some opening courses videotaped by teachers from famous schools. You can have a flexible time to watch the video and arrange your own study plan. As for me, I prefer to watch the video when I eat breakfast or when I wait for the bus. It will cost me only half an hour a day to finish my plan and have no effect on my normal work and study. Teachers can choose this method rather than taking courses in class to renew their knowledge.

At the same time, if there is the specific time period—which I take leave to doubt—for all teachers no matter what subjects they teach to update the knowledge? I have no idea how the five-year requirement is articulated, but I do know it is not appropriate. For some courses such as literature and history, there is little change to the content. It is common for the history books kept what it was for at least 10 years. However, there are truly some subjects need updated in a shorter period, but five years are apparently too long. In the field of technology and design, the improvements and trade just like rabbits and you won’t wish to catch them. Any changes in technology and design will influence the research and should be reflected in classes. Teachers of these subjects should always open their mind to new things.

To sum up, even though updating knowledge is great for most of us, the time and money it requires should also be taken into account. We could seek for a new way to learn or just forget it based on the subjects the teachers are teaching.
