The reading passage comes up with three ways to address the decline of Torreya, which will soon become extinct. The lecturer, however, conceives that none of these three solutions is satisfactory.

To begin with, the author believes that reestablish of Torreya in the same location where it thrived before can help to solve the problem, which is contradicted by the lecturer. Since the global warming has increased the overall temperature plus the river across the city is draining, hence Florida cannot provide Torreya with cool and damp areas, which is no longer an ideal habitat for Torreya.

Furthermore, the lecturer challenges the solution that move Torreya to an entirely different location. To illustrate it, the lecturer presents an example of the black lotus tree, which has been moved to a new place. It turns out the fast spread of the tree kills the native plants and trees which are also faced with extinction. Considering unpredictable consequences, it is not wise to move Torreya to a new place recklessly.

Last but not least, the lecturer casts doubt on the method of preserving Torreya in research centers. She contends that Torreya needs relatively large numbers and genetically diversity to resist disease. As the research centers cannot provide enough capacity, Torreya is not capable to survive the disease in the long term, compared the wild areas.

In the contemporary society, there is a heated discussion over the curriculum offered by colleges and universities. Some people hold that more courses enhance students’ career opportunities, while others accent the heavy stress brought by those courses. As far as I am concerned, the advantages of more courses outweigh its disadvantages.

To begin with, the multiplicity of courses furnishing students with comprehensive knowledge greatly boosts students' chances to stand out in the human resource market. An investigation, conducted by China Employment Fund(CEF), which enjoys much prestige, unveils that virtually over half of excellent graduates are not able to find jobs related to their majors. This leads us to realize the fundamentality of diversity of courses on campus. Specifically, since a student, mastering in electricity, is granted chance to take courses on both his major and other majors such as market and banking, odds are that he can find a position in financial area, even if he fails to get a electricity-related job. Here, it is the diversity of course that prepares him well for the future career.

Moreover, the policy which offers more curriculum creates a stressful studying environment for students, thus helps them develope skills of handling pressure. Even though those extra courses may exert a heavy burden on college students such as the preparation for finals and papers, it is commonly acknowledged that they, with aggressive and assiduous qualities, will treat their courses strictly and gradually get used to this atmosphere with lots of pressure. The atmosphere is similar with the impending working environment confronted by students. Luckily, as students have experienced such environment on campus, it is possible that they will be able to behave better in the anticipated offices.

Admittedly, I concede, to some degree, that someone may contend that the increment of courses will inevitably throw the university into a quandary of tight financial budget as the campus needs to hire more professors and purchase more experimental equipment. Perhaps it will result in the soaring tuition fee which could threaten educational opportunity of students who are underprivileged. Nonetheless, a lot of solutions could be found: on one hand, the financial support from selfless alumni plays a vital role there; on the other hand, along with the development of national economy, the government, currently, pitches greater investment on educational field. In this way, the university authorities could be relieved from this economic mire.

In a nutshell, from what has been discussed above, we may safely come to draw a conclusion that the benefits of offering more courses to students overwhelm its negative ones. A brighter future awaits them as more students are involved in this provident policy.

9月12日Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Patience is usually not a good strategy. We should take action now rather than later.

In the contemporary society, there is a heated debate over strategies of handling affairs among residents.(residents这个意思感觉和整篇文章的题目不搭,因为你并不是要写城市这一类话题) Some place considerable value on the patience, others, however, believe that people ought to be guided by their passions (不可数)and take action at once. The information I have collected over last few (few一般是用在否定,用a few)years leads me to vote for the second view, and a further demonstration is presented by following points.

At the very beginning, immediate action is inclined to avoid opportunity from slipping away (特别传神~)from people's hands(从指间溜走么。。哈哈 有点中文化了,就说从身边溜走就好了). Since a patient man tends to maintain the current situation and then think over multiple aspects of the issue, seldom will he take any measures(measure 意思为:测量,与语句的意思不符,用action就好了,或者initial step) before he a decision(缺少verb. 直接删去he). Even though he is able to decide the most effective method to conquer it later, the best chance does not always wait for him.To take myself as an example, once I got a precious chance to be an exchange student in Hongkong, yet I kept patient and thought over about my financial situation and the adaptation.(意思不太对,conerned about whether I can adapt to new circumstance.呀 好像句子不太平行了T.T) And when I finally made up my mind to take the chance, it was gone as another candidate had already taken away my offer. But (此处无转折的意思)no matter how regretful I was, I would never get that chance again. Here, it is acknowledged that action should be taken as soon as the chance comes.

Furthermore, it is the action that plays an essential role to testify our talents. As an old saying goes, seeing is believing. Asconvincing and far-reaching your thoughts are, you can easily be bettered by an action. An investigation conducted by China Enterprise Funds(CEF), which is a prestigious nongovernmental organization in China, unveils that over 85% of preeminent entrepreneurs owe their success to the passion and their immediate actions.(婷婷的数据例子总是写的特别好!!!我学不来T.T) Specifically, the Baidu is found at the inspiration of making information searched more easily. Granted(句子的逻辑主语是chance,所以granted在这里用的不对) that the practitioner of Baidu pondered much about the current trends of the market and the subsequent results, chances are little that corporation could come into being. Generated (照理说应该the company be generated from passion, 但是句子主语是founder,还是逻辑主语的问题)exactly from passion, the founder took actions as soon as he was hit by the innovative idea, and his talents was witnessed by the public.

Admittedly, I concede, to some degree, that patience probably help individuals grasp whole situations better. An individual with patience usually think the case over before moving on, for he could get closer to case, such as his benefit, the potential hazards and possible consequences. Nonetheless these factors count in the decision making process, passion renders people greater possibility to achieve the goal. What if the Wright Brothers (excellent example!)are(时态 were) afraid of the crash before they fly(flied) an airplane in the sky? How about the expert scientists' anxiety of potential dangers faced by the spaceship in the cosmos? If they pay too much attention in these occasion, hardly can we currently made it to explore the sky and outsider space. Thus, we become aware of the great passion (意识到激情? 应该是意识到激情的重要作用吧~)and encouragement brought by quick action.

In a nutshell, from what has been discussed above, it is time to applaud the action taken now instead of later, for it could not only help us seize slight opportunities but grant us passion to make breakthroughs then prove our eminence, despite of the possible assistance made by patient consideration.

Buzzing has generated lots of controversy nowadays, and the reading passage puts forward three main disadvantages of buzzing, which, however, is contradicted by the speaker by following points.

To begin with, the writer believes that buzzers are inclined to give consumers incorrect information about the product. However, the speaker casts doubt on it by explaining that  buzzers are not intentionally organized by company. To take himself as an example, he bought a phone which functions well, thus he was chosen by the company to be a buzzer to share his experience.

Moreover, the speaker also challenges the view that consumers tend to believe the endorsements less critically. To illustrate it, he presents a fact that consumers usually ask many questions before purchasing a certain product, such as the price and service, and so on. Thus, it turns out that consumers can make discreet judgments on a product advocated by buzzers.

Last but not least, the speaker questions the negative impacts on social relationships brought by buzzing. Specifically, the speaker bought a fabulous phone and then shared it with the surrounding individuals, it proved to be others' favor of the phone and they hence thanked him. In this way, he became more trustful to others instead of being considered dishonest.

In a nutshell, the author shows the controversy produced by buzzing, yet the speaker, conversely, votes for this style of advertisement.

In the contemporary society, even though people in growing numbers have become aware of the fundamentality of education, others are living under the illusion that getting education still is a quandary. As far as I am concerned, nowadays residents can get informed more easily.

At the very beginning, the view that equating education with future career success enhance people to pursue educational chances unconsciously, which enables them easily to receive education. Along with the development of national economy, residents nowadays are placing much value on the education instead of farming works, as they realize that crops cannot thrive without the assistance of agricultural knowledge. To take my gregarious sister as a case, living in the remote countryside, she never considered going to colleges. Luckily, imbued with the view that education promises a better life, she determined to come to the metropolis. After years of assiduous study, she made it to study in Peking University, which enjoys much prestige in China. Here, we come to witness the positive impact exert by the change of mind towards education.

Furthermore, the improvement of technologies enhances the efficiency of education, thus people could get educated with more ease. Specifically, with the advent of projector, professors currently do not have to write every word in a blackboard and anymore, thus large amounts of time could be saved to deliver an intriguing lectures, which greatly boosts the working efficiency of teachers. Additionally, the computer has become an indispensable part of students' life: no matter where and when, all students need to do is merely clicking a searching box and typing key words, then information related with the paper will emerge on the computer screen, which promises more sources for student to do academical paper. Those enhancement of educational methods renders convenience to students.

Admittedly, I concede, to some degree, that some people may accent the fiercer competitions on the university's entrance examination, which presents obstacles to people's access to education. As superficially convincing it is, we could not ignore a basic fact that our educational resources are enriching at an accelerating pace. Specifically, the government has pitched mints of capitals into the educational industry to build more schools and train more professional teachers, promising better accesses to colleges and universities. In this way, even though we may face much hardship on preparation those examinations, chances are that we can still get enrolled to a certain institution.

In a nutshell, from what has been discussed above, we may safely come to draw a conclusion that people are getting easier and easier to obtain educational chance. As long as we strive for those chances unremittingly will we get educated.

In the contemporary society, even though people in growing numbers (number )have become aware of the fundamentality (意识到了教育的基本? 感觉不是很对奥,用 fundamental role感觉好一点)of education, others are living under the illusion that getting education still is a quandary(这个句子感觉even though的逻辑并没有出来). As far as I am concerned, nowadays (传说中,ETS讨厌nowadays, 因为中国学生最喜欢用这个词~~~噗 不知道是真是假)residents can get informed more easily.

At the very beginning, the view that equating education with future career success (语法错误,that后面应该是一个完整的句子)enhance (enhances)people to pursue educational chances unconsciously, which enables them easily to receive education(人们下意识地追求教育与接受教育更容易并没有太大的逻辑关系。。婷婷觉得呢?). Along with the development of national economy, residents nowadays are placing much value on the education instead of farming works, as they realize that crops cannot thrive without the assistance of agricultural knowledge. To take my gregarious sister as a case, living in the remote countryside, she never considered going to colleges. After years of assiduous study, she made it to study in Peking University, which enjoys much prestige in China. Here, we come to witness the positive impact exert by the change of mind towards education.(这段逻辑我感觉有问题,妹纸去意识到了教育的重要性,于是考上了北大,并没有证明人们更容易接受教育了。如果婷婷说,以前妹纸她爸妈不让她上学,只要她务农,后来观念转变了,让她去读书,这样的话逻辑就对了。)

Furthermore, the improvement of technologies enhances the efficiency of education, thus people could get educated with more ease(个人感觉efficiency与接受教育的容易程度无关,中间有一个gap。改成technology provides lots of ways and equipments for people to access education,会不会好一些?). Specifically, with the advent of projector, professors currently do not have to write every word in a blackboard and anymore, thus large amounts of time could be saved to deliver (while delivering)an intriguing lectures, which greatly boosts the working efficiency of teachers. Additionally, the computer has become an indispensable part of students' life: no matter where and when(一般都是when and where, 个人感觉啦!), all students need to do is merely clicking a searching box and typing key words, then information related with the paper will emerge on the computer screen, which promises more sources for student to do academical paper. Those enhancement of educational methods renders convenience to students.

Admittedly, I concede, to some degree, that some people may accent the fiercer competitions on theuniversity's (university)entrance examination, which presents (set/ install)obstacles to people's access to education. (高考设置障碍,观点好~)As superficially convincing it is, we could not ignore a basic fact that our educational resources are enriching at an accelerating pace. Specifically, the government has pitched mints of capitals into the educational industry to build more schools and train more professional teachers, promising better accesses to colleges and universities. In this way, even though we may face much hardship on preparation those examinations, chances are that we can still get enrolled to a certain institution.

In a nutshell, from what has been discussed above, we may (could/ can)safely come todraw a conclusion that people are getting easier and easier to obtain educational chance. As long as we strive for those chances unremittingly will we get educated.

婷婷好好再斟酌一下这篇的逻辑奥~~不过也是我的一家之言~~~可以找大牛们来看看!

The reading and listening passage discuss the effects brought about by the "let it burn" policy in 1988. The writer conceives that the fire renders considerable damages to the Yellowstone park, which, however, is contradicted by the speaker for following points.

To begin with, the writer holds that Yellowstone fire resulted in tremendous damage to the vegetation. Conversely, the lecturer casts doubt on it by presenting a basic fact. After the fire, the soil was colonized by new plants. Specifically, the old and tall trees are replaced by smaller trees, which provide open and unshaded space. Besides, some seeds have germinated by the high level of heat.

Moreover, the lecturer questions the negative impacts on animals. According to her, the fire, instead, created new living opportunities for those animals such as rabbits.  As rabbits and other animals are thriving, the number of their predators is also growing. Thus, stronger food chains have been formed since then.

Last but not least, the lecturer opposes that the fire compromised the value of the park as a tourist attraction. As the fire has not happened again, it will no longer threaten tourists. Additionally, the low rainfall and other spectacles of the park are riveting to people. Therefore, an increasing number of tourists come here each year, which plays an essential role in the prosperity of the city.
