9月1日 agree or disagree,in order to be succeed, you should be more like others than be different from everyone else
Almost no one can deny the fact that everyone is unique in human society, that is to say, people are different from each other in various ways. To be extreme, even the twins are different to some extent, not  to say ordinary people who are from different families and parts of the world. On the contrary, as what is said in the statement, in order to achieve success, people should tend to be more similar with others rather than  to be different from other people in our society. Do you think this opinion is reasonable even at the first glance? I guess most people would disagree with this viewpoint, and I am off to it either.

In the first place, if one tends to be the same with a loser, then the result is that this person is likely to be a loser too. Hardly can one imagine the fact that one person always want to be the same as a criminal or as some people do not want to work so they just sit along the road to wait others' money for free can be successful in the future. An recent survey shows that nearly 73% of people who have live with some people who have a negative view of the society have difficulties to gain success in their later life, not to mention people who tend to be the same as those losers.

Another point I want to emphasize is that other factors-the opportunities, the attitudes toward succes and the courage to face and defeat failure-are more important than to be the same as other people in order to achieve success. Although many people consistently maintain the fact that it will make others feel uncomfortable  to perform differently with others in companies or in schools, so that their efforts can not be acknowledged by these people easily, then they can not be successful without the confirmation of others. It must be admitted that in modern society, people in growing number begin to realize that other people play less and less impacts on individual's success.

In fact, I have to admitted that to be the same as other successful people and learn experience, information and knowledge from them can help one make less mistakes on their way towards success. On the other hand, this oppotunity is so scarce, and some celebrities are unwilling to share their secrets of success to others.

In conclusion, one tends to be a loser if he/she performs similarly as a loser, and other factors are more important than to be the same as others in order to gain success. Although people may find some shortcut by being the same as successful people, the chance is limited. Consequently, I disagree with the point.

In the reading text, it has been talked about problems relate to on-line encyclopedias. In contrast, the speaker does no agree with these points in the passage. She says that the opinions may based on prejudices and ignores the advantages of on-line encyclopedias.

First, contrary to what is said in the passage that on-line encyclopedias include errors, the speaker argues that all encyclopedias contain errors. She points out the advantage of on-line encyclopedias is that its errors can be corrected quickly after they are found. However, traditional encyclopedias may remain these mistakes for decades because it is difficult to make changes in paper based materials.

Second, it is stated in the reading text that on-line encyclopedias can be easily changed by hackers and other unscrupulous users. On the other hand, the speaker explains that people had already realized this problem, and they make the crucial part of on-line encyclopedias read only format, in this way the crucial part of it can be protected. They also use special auditors to monitor every change in on-line encyclopedias in order to avoid this problem.

Third, according to the reading text, on-line encyclopedias contains information which is not very important to the topic. However, the professor explains that the space in traditional encyclopedias is limited. Therefore, writers should choose which are important based on their experiences. Thus, traditional encyclopedias can not cover all people' interests. But this problem does not exist in on-line encyclopedias, the space is sufficient enough to include various views and topics in order to reflect people' different interests. This is the most important advantage of on-line encyclopedias.

it is better to relax by a movie or reading a book than doing physical exercise.Do you agree?
It is widely acknowledged that reading books or watching movies do good to one's mental health and, doing physical exercises contributes greatly to people' physical health. But when talking to the question of which one makes me feel more relaxed, I have to admit that it is really a tough quesion since I like both of them. After carefully consideration, I think it better for me to do physical exercises for the following reasons.

In the first place, much of my time is spent on reading at school as I am an university student now, so that doing others such as exercises can give me a different atmosphere to helpe me relax myself. Hardly can you imagine the fact that I have to read about 200 pages everyday due to the laborous classes in my university. Indeed, I love reading books, especially those who are relating to history. On the other hand, since I have so much reading everyday, it is boring for me to reading books after one day's hard study. Therefore, I would like to do some exercises-running on the playground, palying football with my friends. When I get out of the classroom and into the playground, the fresh air there really helps me to relieve from the classes.

Another point I want to stress is that doing exercises in the playground is free, on the other hand, one needs to buy books or tickets in order to read or watch. As what I have noted in the second paragraph, I am a student with not sufficient money to buy extra books besides textbooks or movie tickets now, so that I love to do physical exercises. I do not have to waiting for minutes or hours only to buy tickets for a moive, or need to spend so much money on expensive books, if I do physical exercises on the playground.

Of course, it must be admitted that reading books or wacthing movies is an efficient way for some people to relax and they can afford the cost. On no account can I deny the importance of books or movies for people' mental health. On the contrary, I consider now what I need and can afford is physical exercises rather than books or movies. I think physical exercise is more practical for me.

To sum up, I have already spend much of my time on reading since I am a student and I cannot afford those expensive books or movie tickets. In addition, what I need and can afford is physical exercises. Therefore, I think doing physical exercises is better for me.

The reading text talks about saveral reasons that American wood producers will accept ecocertification. On the other hand, the speaker does not agree with this point, and saying that wood companies in the United States will eventually accept ecocertification.

First, contrary to what is stated in the reading passage that American consumers do not trust in advertising, the speaker argues that consumers in the U.S usually distinguish claims made by companies for their own products and claims made by independent agencies. They react favourably to claims from independent organization with international trustworthiness. Thus, the first reason in the reading text is unsounded.

Second, the professor explains that consumers in the U.S care about the price only when the difference of price between products is too huge, which is opposed to what is said in the passage. If the difference is not so much, like less than 5%, consumers will consider other factors rather than price. Also, American consumers really value environmentally friendly products like the certified wood. Therefore, the second reason in the passage is reputed.

Third, the professor points out that American companies will adopt this certification, not because consumers' attitudes but due to competition with foreign companies. Froeign companies have already adopted this new practice and their certified wood products will crowed in American market since consumers in the U.S are interested in these products, if American companies do not do the same as them. Consequently, the last reason in the reading text is also unconvincing, according to the speaker.

Do you agree that it is better to spend money on traveling and vacation than save money for the future.

No one can deny the fact that traveling and vacation are two things most people eager to enjoy-to spend one month on the sea shore, to visit the great wall in China and so forth. Traveling to new places makes one relax and relieve from everyday hard work or study and, it is always a wonderful time for the majority of people. However, from my point of view as a traditional chinese, I tend to in favor of saving money for my future for the following reasons.

In the first place, I have to save money to buy an apartment in central city. It is obvious that I need one apartment to live when I come back from work. On the other hand, hardly can you imagine the fact that if I want to buy one apartment of one hundred suqare meters in Bei Jing, I have to pay more than three millions yuan. It is too much that I can not afford it, and thing will go even worse if I spend my salary on traveling or vacation since I have to find a place to live first and it is my top priority at present. On the contrary, I can travel or go for a vacation later when I have extra money.

Another aspect I want to mention is that I also have no medical insurance so that I need to save money to pay for my medical bills in the future. Although I am able to relax myself and have a good time by traveling or vacation, it must be admitted that illness is unpredictable and I do not want to bother my parents if I have some serious diseases while in short of money. Indeed, it must be noted that most of average people in China do not have sufficient time and money for long distance traveling, becasue different sorts of expensive costs are so high that they can not afford them just by their salaries.

Of course, as what I have said in the third paragraph, I can really enjoy myself by traveling and vacation. On the other hand, saving money is more practical for me now. In addition, my parents will retire in five years, at that time, it is my responsibility to support them. Also, I will have my own family and my children, which are all more important for me than traveling or vacation.

To sum up, I need to save money to buy one apartment and pay my medical bills, I have to support my parents and my family. Therefore, I am firmly convinced that saving money is practical for me.

The reading text cites evidences that Chevalier distorted or invented events in his memoir to make it more exciting. On the contrary, the professor says that none memoirs can be exactly correct in every detail. In fact, she states that Chevlier's memoir is pretty good and an realiable historical resource.

First, the professor explains that Chevalier indeed was wealthy and had large mount of properties. The fact was that he needed to convert his wealth into actual money before he spent it. And this would cost him some days to wait for the cash, therefore he had to borrow some during this days. This did not indicate he was poor as the author says in the passage.

Second, the professor points out that Chevalier wrote down everything he could remember immediately after his conversation with Voltaire on the notes. In addition, he kept these notes for many years and used them when he wrote the memoir. Moreover, other people confirmed that Chevalier use notes and journals when he wrote his memoir. In contrast, in the reading text, critics cast doubts on the accuracy of the conversations between Chevalier and Voltaire.

Third, the professor agrues that in the prison of Venice, others had even more powerful friends than Chevalier, but they could not bribe to escape. Moreover, some old documents showed that soon after Chevalier's escape, the ceiling he lived had to be repaired. This might support what Chevalier said in his memoir before the reason that the repair after his escape but not before.

9月4日agree/disagree:an efficient leader will always try to make everyone feel that he's in part of a decision making

To be honest, I disagree with the point that an efficient leader will always try to make everyone feel that she/he is one part of decision making. It is obvious that decision making is tightly connected to the fate of one company or an institution, so that all leaders should pay close attention and consideration to the decisions they made. At the same time, time must be spent if leaders try to do this, they have to do some many things in order to address every employee. Consequently, their work becomes less efficient and time consuming.

In the first place, the secrets of one company should not be known to every workers. No one can deny the fact that if one secret of a company is leaked to its competitor, this company will eventually fail and lost its advantages in the field.  Have any employees in NASA know everything happened in it? Have you heard that policeman has been told what they will capture a criminal in details? In fact, the list goes on and on. All of these facts lead to one conclusion-secrets must be kept.

Another point I want to emphasize is that trying to make every worker knows about the decision making is time consuming. For leaders who want to make everyone feel like one part of the decision making, they must spend time, such as address a meeting, call every one to inform them, and so forth. In fact, this process costs so much time of leaders, which they may spend on other important things. Take my life experience as an example. The headmaster is planning to build a new library and, he wants to hear everyone's voice about this plan, so he decides to let all students, teachers, and other workers in our university to make suggestions on this plan. It takes so almost half a year yet the final decision has not been made.

In fact, I have to admit one fact that workers will feel like they are being treated as on part of the company if they feel they are one part of decision making, they feel they have been respected by the leaders. Consequently, they may work more hard as their are working for themself. On the other hand, the potencial damages are unpredictable according to what I have written in the second and third paragraph.

To sum up, secrets must be kept for a company and making everyone feel like one part of decision making is time consuming. Although doing this may incite employees to work hard, its disadvantages far outweigh its advantages, therefore, an efficient leader will not do this.

The reading text talks about some advantages of fuel-cell engines. On the contrary, the speaker does not agree with the viewpoint made in the passage. She says that it is too optimistic. At the same time, fuel-cell engines are not the solution to the problems.

First, in contrast to what has been stated in the reading that hydrogen is easy to access, the speaker explains that hydrogen in water and natural gas are not directly usable. In fact, hydrogen needs to be made artificially and convert to pure liquid state so that it can be used in fuel-cell engines. However, it is very difficult to do this because this process needs very low temperature. In this case, it is not very easy to produce and store hydrogen. This directly contradicts to its counterpart in the reading text.

Second, the speaker points out that unlike what is said in the reading text, the process of producing hydrogen will pollute the environment. The reason is that the process of producing hydrogen needs coal or oil as power and, the burning of coal or oil will polluted the environment.

Third, the speaker says that fuel-cell engines are not cheap as what is said in the passage since one metal which is necessary to produce fuel-cell engines is too expensive. And without this kind of metal, the rate of chemical reaction in order to generate electricity will decrease. Scientists do not find another metal to replace this one yet. Consequently, the fuel-cell engines are expensive at present.
