I got an email from Yale yesterday in which they invited me to interview in New Haven. However, I am located in the bay area of California, isn't it a little too far for me to fly across the state? I supposed they will give me a local interview. Do you think admission officers have special concern about me and want to meet me in person? If so, I have to go.
They mentioned in the last paragraph that if I cannot make the oncampus interview, they would try to arrange a local one. I am hesitated to do so cuz I worry this will impair my chance to get in.
greattaste, and izone? any inside opinion? TIA!

1. An alum interivew will not hurt you, but I think an adcom interview will help, as adcom has the ultimate power to admit or ding you.

2. Do you have other interviews on east coast? You can arrange an interview trip, which will be much more cost- time- effective.

May I consult 2 questions:

1. I have got the telephone interiverw invitation of Yale MBA for Executive in the healthcare sector, all the interviers are directors. Are there anyone interviewed in the program? Any alumni to consult?

2. I also applied MBA but no response till now. Does Yale encourage proactively contact admission officer to ask the result?

thanks and happy new year!

Hi Shingsprit-

I think you can contact the ad office, but there is no need to worry about your application now.

greattaste, i have also applied for the january round, but heard nothing till now.

seems some interview invitations have been sent to mainlanders, so does it mean that we, who got no invitation for interview, have been set aside for a ding letter? hehe, just curious about the process.

thank you

Hi cranberry,

I can only speak about last year's experience.  I got the invitation 3 weeks after the R2 deadline, and one of my current classmates (from mainland China) got the invitation at the end of Feb.  So, I think you guys need not worry too much. But yes, getting an early invitation is not bad thing.

thank you , great taste. I got the reason finally, hehe. yesterday, I received an e-mail from the adcom telling me that they had not received my official report of toefl. It is so queer since I had required ETS to sent my score to yale several weeks before. And the adcom even warned me that it is possible that my application might be reviewed  the next round. hehe, a big surprise for a new year.

I will argue with the adcom about my position and expect that will help. would you please give me some suggestions? i really have received a letter from one of the adcom which told me that my application would be reviewed in the second round on condition that i submitted the application before the deadline and sent my official report no later than the end of FEB and i keep this email for reference. Do you think I should use this email to stengthen my position, hehe?

Re: Yale SOM's ranking

I won't worry about SOM's long-term ranking.  In LT, there is onlyone direction it can go, up.  Young and small, it will taketime.  And alumni base will take more time to build up. Plus, it doesn't want to become a trade school, which is a easier wayto gain short-term fame.

BTW, SOM is underestimated in almost all areas, strategy, leadership, marketing and even finance.  artly due to its tradition ofnon-profit focus.

So, you have to know yourself and the school very well before you cantell it's the right place.  I believe it's still a hidden gem.
