我认为D、E之所以错，还有一个原因是改变了原来句子的意思，将状语从句变成句子的主干，原句的主语是‘people’,B满足要求，且句子表达简洁明确。

AC中的their指代不明

E the same ...as...少as.

D 原句的重点是the rate of people （吃高热量食物的人的比率）与死于心脏病的人的比率相比较。而D变成了高热量食品被消费的比率和死于心脏病的人的比率相比较。D句显然违反逻辑意思。

E中rate修饰的是people
从意思上来讲，rate当然指的是消耗（consume）的速度，支持B

读起来好像没有问题，但细想就有问题了……

如果换你自己思维来表达前半分句，你会如何表达？我会这样写：

对比这一句和D，我想你应该可以看出来这里的差别了。再看我在翻译中表明的“（法国和美国的）”

而B则没有这个问题：

at about the same rate 作状语。

推论：

不能依靠翻译过来后读起来没有问题的句子，在英语的环境下思考。

death rates from heart disease are far lower in France.

“虽然（法国和美国的）消费的肥肉速率是相同的，法国的死率却更低！”

比较起来还是B在逻辑意思上面比较对啊。

DE都是Although the rate... is the same..., the death rates are...(although a is b, c is d 句意平淡，邏輯感弱)

B 則是Although...people...consume...., the death rates are...(although onething happens..., another issue still happens...強烈表現although從屬子句的角色)
