B正确应该无异议了。问另外一个问题，

Although  people in France and the United States consume fatty foods at about the same rate, 
    the death rates from heart disease are far lower in France.

这句话的后半句是不是如下才对呢：

the death rate in France is far lower than that in US.

觉得the death rates ....are ...前面是复数，后面跟的却是一个国家，有点怪怪的感觉？

会不会逻辑错误呢？在法国，两国（因为是复数）源于心脏病的死亡率都很低。感觉逻辑不对？

这里没有理由用被动吧。另外，感觉因为死亡率是人吃的行为造成的，人是主动的。比如，尽管我吃了10个西瓜，但是我没闹肚子。说成“尽管10个西瓜被我吃了，但我没闹肚子。“就不好了。

1. people in France consume fatty foods at a rate comparable to the United States, their（前后不可比，前面是people,后面是USA,也不应该用comparable to ）
           
2. people in France and the United States consume fatty foods at about the same rate, the(从和后面一个分句的平行上看，我觉得D更好)
           
3. fatty foods are consumed by people in France at a comparable rate to the United States’s, their（一样前后不可比）
           
4. the rate of fatty foods consumed in France and the United States is about the same, the（前分句前后可比且从句之间非常平行）

有没有人觉得这道题考了平行呢？即Although the rate ....is.....,death rates .....are.

我觉得正确答案B和我的答案D的差别1）主动被动；2）平行不平行，似乎D更好一些

answer is B.

D has a problem of using the structure of "A of B and C is about the same". Should be "As of B and C are about the same". Actually "rates" is used in the second half of the sentence to refer to the death rates in the 2 countries. and the verb is "are" instead of "is".  The question itself already show you an example.

It should be "the rate of people" related with "the death rates", not the rate of "consume".

但是B后分句也是没有their的啊,用的是the,对于top兄的说法我很赞同,这应当是动作发出者做主语,而不应当是承受者.however,这到后面分句是the rate作的主语,从平行角度上来看,我觉得还是应该选D

我的理解：

D是：the rate of fatty foods consumed in France and the United States is about the same, the

从结构上看，在这里，France 和the United States是一个集合。

所以，实际上，D说的是，“the rate of fatty foods consumed in 一个集合 is about the same”。

可见，这里面没有France和the United States 作比的意思，后来再说个is about the same就是莫名其妙了。一个rate和谁about the same啊？

如果是想把France 的rate和the United States的rate作比，选项D就不该这么说。

各位以为如何？

我觉得原句的意思是:把法国人消费FATTY FOODS的RATE和美国人消费FATTY FOODS 的RATE 做比较,应该是人均量比较吧.

C 好像是法国和美国整个国家消费总量的比较,意思应该与原句有所不同.

也不知道分析的对不对,其实虽然这样想,但是也没有整理出明确的思路来,只是有这个想法

做这题的时候也错了,也还是没有明白为什摸选B不选D,但是既然B是正确答案,只有努力找BD的不同,往正确答案上靠了!!郁闷!

这题的D和E有很大的问题，是什么的RATE，是CONSUME的RATE，而按照D和E来说，就分别是FOODS和PEOPLE的RATE，这本身就是逻辑错误的。因为RATE的代表着一种动作，而FOODS和PEOPLE都是名词，这种搭配怎么对哪？

退一步，即使这种表达是正确的，再看看结构the rate of sth doing/done这种表达就很有问题，是ETS多次说明的，究竟是修饰rate还是sth啊？

再祛除AC明显的比较错误，那么只有B了。

看完各位NN理解选B，想起OG里好象有不硬充平行结构的例子。

只是后半句的death rate 为什么是复数形式？前人有提到是两个国家的死亡率，怎么也解释不通啊，就像NN罗马青年

提到的"在法国，两国（因为是复数）源于心脏病的死亡率都很低"

我感觉the death rate in France is far lower than that in US.或the death rate  is far lower in France
