hehe, i am a vehement supporter of the choice E. But did you ask your friend why E is correct and C is not? Maybe some further explanation will help a lot to clarify this tricky question.

同意E. 主要是misleading 的理解：C我认为主要是对irradiation is no worse in this respect than cooking起作用，说明cooking和irradiation不是一回事故而谈不上相比，而misleading应该是文章的point, 也就是it also lowers the nutritional value of many foods或irradiation destroys a significant percentage of whatever vitamin B1 a food may contain，此时对E: 这个fact( irradiation is no worse in this respect than cooking), 就让人感觉在混淆视听，因为cooking和irradiation作用是混合的，而irradiation又no worse than cookingno，这样会使人认为the reduction of vitamin B1主要都是cooking起作用，irradiation没有怎么lowers the nutritional value of many foods，故导致misleading。

I choose "C".  Mindfree's explaination is more proper.

Regarding E: "the reduction of Vitamin B1 associated with either process individually is compounded"

这个说法有问题，for food that is both irradiated and cooked, 只有两个过程都走过了之后，才能有

compounded， 而 either process individually is compounded 是不是言之过激？

开始非常坚定的选e，觉得从语法结构上来讲，e非常的完美对称。但是后来再仔细看题目，觉得e不能算是misleading。c说明两者根本不能比较，用来表达misleading更为合适。

我想还是选e吧，因为c实际上是逃避了 weaken 某观点（irradiation is no worse in this respect than cooking）的责任，转而强调不相关的内容，c 所强调的是题干中假定不再讨论的内容（我认为作者已经认为无需讨论两者的不同作用，只讨论是否irradiation is no worse in this respect than cooking）。

这么说来，是不是C比较好一点?

本来选的C,后来投奔E,今天觉得C 才对

刚才炒菜的时候又仔细想了想

觉得C说的两点其实并不相同，应该也没有eithor X or X的错误

如果把题目的最后两句倒过来说，是不是会比较清楚一点However, this fact is either misleading, since cooking is usually the final step in preparing food for consumption, whereas irradiation serves to ensure a longer shelf life for perishable foods or else beside the point, since much irradiated food is eaten raw

然后我们这样来理解,因为irradiation和cooking的用法不同，一个杀菌,一个吃，用irradiation其实并不是为了吃，or else,即使吃了也是生吃.

大家想想一般来说食物有两种吃法

一种是生吃，这种情况本来没有维生素损失，但是有了辐射就有损失了，所以是“beside”

另一种是熟吃，这种情况下维生素一定有所损失，关键是如果不辐射损失不会进一步加大，所以“misleading”

反对一下第2种说法,E没说不会进一步加大,而是说两种损失混合在一起了，the reduction of Vitamin B1 associated with either process individually is compounded你分不清楚哪种损失会更大,因为我们看到的是总的损失

这就有2点了，一是,确实是irradiation损失大，那么也就无所谓misleading,一种是cooking的损失更大，那么不用irradation至少可以减少损失，也没有misleading的说法

个人浅见请NN斧正,这题九月JJ里有，25号就要考了，希望NN再指点
