不知道大家用的是那个版本的GWD?

在最新的TT GWD里面,这道题的E选项与老版本不一样了

TT GWD14-32

To develop more accurate population forecasts, demographers have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic determinants of fertility.

1,they do需要省略,我记得OG中有一道类似的题目

2,这里需要一个would,其实整句话比较的是now和would虚拟

虽然我做的时候这道题错选了A,但是现在仔细想想,的确E更好(注意:是新的TTGWD下的题目版本)

这里比较的主语谓语都没有变  所以可以省略
比较的重点是在now 和would
同意E

这道题目讨论了2年多啊。我也支持TTGWD的E,跟大家交流一下我的看法D为何不对

看白勇上说，比较的省略原则： 主句谓语动词短语使用助动词（如 have, has, had, will）或情态动词（can，could，may，should）+ verb 形式时，比较从句往往省略verb，保留助动词或者情态动词。

D would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic 其中they do 虽然想表达的是 they know的意思，但是在形式上不是很好的省略和并列格式。（they would 其实是最并列的，读者最容易找到并列，但是意思上不对）,我自己从来没有看到过有这样不并列的省略方式（个人所见有限，如果有反例欢迎指正）。所以我排除了D （旧版和TT GWD）

我在之前的版本中选A （D也选过，但是开始对would不太认可，后来觉得they do 是个问题）。TTGWD这一版觉得E是最佳答案。大家请讨论~

我觉得选A，than now应该和than ever同样吧？可以不用加they do。

另外economical的意思是节约的，不是经济的意思。

想了很久

这个更倾向于是将来和现在的比较　　那么就是时态上的比较　　

那么they do 就该补出来　　答案是Ｄ

Ｅ选项　ＴＨＥＹ　ＤＯ　省略　那么这个句子比较的对象又是什么

答案是E，可我觉得这个比较得补出they do, 因为比较得是知道的多少，为一个动作。另外，这个would的补出有必要吗？谢谢！

这题本人认为选A，但是E项如果是economic就是最佳答案

首先economic无疑，是“经济因素”而非“便宜因素”，

其次more修饰的是know的宾语而非谓语know（可以从deal一词看出来），相同主谓结构省略为宜。

此外would更好，因为作者是拿一种设想与现在“now”比较，而would have本来就有表推测之意。

所以E项economical如果改成economic则选E，不改就只能将就选A了
