以下是引用kokooli在2007-10-25 12:50:00的发言:Hi Guys, I have following questions: 1)MIT online application asks if you visit campus and attend other infomation sessions. Moreover if yes, also ask you to provide the date you go to campus and what event and which city you attend the sessions. why admission office asks these questions? these questions will have an impact on admission? BTW, I am in US, so for US guys, it is necessary to visit campus? 2)My undergraduate GPA is below 3, it is ok to apply for MIT? if MIT emphasizes previous academics? Thank you very much for your answer! 1. I don't think the on-campus visit or information session will make a serious impact on your application. It's more of a reference for source of information. However, it also depends on where you are in the US. If you are in Boston, then you should visit Sloan if you can since it will be helpful for you to understand the school better.
2. This depends on your length of work experience. If you can come up with a good reason of low GPA, it's the best. One principle here is that the longer you work, the less influential this would be. If you don't have a good explanation, you can always make a twist by facing the low GPA directly and tell the adcom what you learn from that experience.
