谢楼上。说的有些道理，但还有疑问，其他就都先不说，大家看e会有歧义不？to acquire characters in their steers, who acquire? here more likely refers to the breeders. breeders acquire characters(that are) in their steers???另外，书上咋就没讲到a为啥不对呢，也是因为原因不如后面半个明显？咋这时候又要对称了呢？

这个意思我也疑问，后半部分是“获得阉牛的某些特性”。
阉牛是没有生殖能力的牛，它的某些特性怎么可以获得呢？
而且crossbreeding也没它什么事啊？

俺也在想俺这个意思咋养牛的就能有阉牛的特性了呢。老ge,你说ets这题咋那么怪呢，除了平行有问题，意思也狠有问题。

这句话的意思是肯定是：
部分地是为了获得某些特性，这些特性存在于他们的阉牛身上。

不是养牛的人本人获得牛的特性。
牛一旦获得了某些特性，因为养牛的人是牛的所有者，所以从逻辑上养牛的人也就“获得（拥有）”了这些特性。

其实，这句话用中文来表达非常简单：
部分地是为了让阉牛获得某些特性。
