做题的时候我毫不犹豫的选了D,但是OG的解释是被动语态awkward
D awkwardly and illogically shifts to the passive voice: certain characteristics should be acquired by their steers;)

被动语态的确不够好，问题是E选项完全不符合平行并列结构
请教大家，希望能讨论出一个合理解释。另外，我想知道这道题的答案有没有推广价值？

E其实才是平行的
partly to acquire  和 partly to provide 平行~~ 表达了 increasingly used crossbreeding的两个目的

D选项两个错误，一个是被动语态is awkward；一个是steer 不能 acquire  characteristics

是不是可以把“because crossbreeding is said”理解为 类似插入语的修饰成分，这样 to acquire 和 to provide的平行就看的更加清楚了。
