我认为问题的关键在于对意思的理解。

make it understandable 和 by which it is understood在意义上市不一样的。 过程可以使language更好理解，而不是通过这个过程（我觉得这个地方by 可以认为指“通过……”），语言就被理解了，逻辑不通，因为可以理解并不等于被理解了，至少没有make it understandable 好。

C是错的，因为reveal underlying simplity，原句中reveal和underlie是在同一个语法层面上的。

A么，共用使肯定没有问题的。

请GEMJ大侠将答案改成C。理由是：

1。同意GEMJ的质疑，produce要么没有宾语，要么宾语是it understandable，不合逻辑。主观地去“选择”宾语没有说服力。

2。by不仅当“被”还可当“通过”讲。同时，被动形式是可以没有by引导的动作的发出者的。

以上两条前面的帖子已有陈述，再加一条：

A中，has revealed great complexity instead of underlying simplicity。underlying跟在介词of后，有作为underlie的现在分词的可能。

C中，has revealed not underlying simplicity but great complexity。not是副词，but是连词，对于连接成分不会造成语法功能上的混乱。

我认为还是A。

因为C增加了被动语态,而且还不明确谁是施动者.即便加入了by+施动者,但是和联系代词的by which一起出现必然会导致混淆和意义不清.所以,从语法上C不严格.

而且动词后的but和not直接接宾语似乎也有点问题,待俺再找找语法书看看.

A 是对的。C的逻辑意思不通。虽然A的produce and make it understandable看起来也不是很舒服，但从逻辑角度讲C （by which it is understood) 更错。
