1. Increasing wildfire activity has intrigued controversies about the management of public forests after large fires. The majority view is that postfire logging is beneficial to forest regeneration and fire risk diminishment. Others think it has long-term detriment to wildlife.,etc.
2. Following experiment on Biscuit fire to testify above two views.
3. With observation of conifer regeneration situation in two circumstances. The one without postfire logging has abundant seedlings per hectare. But the other one with reducing seedling due to soil disturbance and physical burial.
4. Regarding to the fuel load, which will be higher in postfire logging than expectation.
5. Postfire logging is unfeasible to lower the reburn issue. Fuel reduction treatment should be implemented from time to time, taking lots of resources which is limited. Mechanical removal costs too much, prescribed burning will hurt seedling and soil. Hence after all, natural wastage is the most efficient way among them.
