American company tend to improve their productivity by cost-cutting decreasing the number of employees.
However, the result is not successful as they anticipate.
The remaining workers are increase their workloads.
Second(3:24)
Provide an alternative collaborative plan to boost productivity.
The plan give the employee ownership plans, and employees are happier and more productive than before.
Despite the advantage, it’s still difficult to implement.
Not only the employee are reeducated, but also the manager must be persuaded to accept diminish their power, which might be the reason that many firms prefer to use the original plan.

1.        讲述了企业通过节省成本(裁员和外包)的方式来提升生产力的做法不能产生企业所期盼的结果,短期效应是有,但是长期员工会超负荷导致产量下降。随后举例。
2.        提出新做法,股权激励政策。紧密联系各利益相关方,但是也有缺陷,不易实施。

P1 Downsizing & outsourcing 的效果不如預期的原因與例子 ->
- 員工士氣減少,留下來的員工會loading太大(burnout)
- 例子:1977-1987的結果只略高於人力也在增長的公司
- 例子:股票市場前面6個月的狀況是好的,但是3年之後就underperform

P2 另外一種方法,但是不好執行所以比較少被採用 ->
- 另一種方法:profit sharing & stake-ownership (員工持股)
- 這個方法確實好,但是難以實施,原因:要再教育員工、要說服管理階層他們縮減權利
- 所以採用比較少(回到P1為什麼比較多人用)
