D还是不对的。 虽然tania举出了些平行省略的例子，但是不适合于这题。

把D还原进去。

读得顺吗？我觉得tony说得很对，任何增加理解难度的选项，不是个好选项。上面主谓宾很清楚。比较的是主语，不是charge这个动作。3倍多比较的是学校，不是钱，也不是如何charge的，主语不能省略。

还是坚持E

我觉得理解上没问题啊，还原后应把省略部分也补充进去

所以D带入是。。。。，more than three times as many independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year as（ independent institutions of higher education ）charge over $16,000.

典型的省略了后面的主语，与那几个例子一模一样，翻译一下：“一年学费低于8000的高等教育机构的数量是那些学费高于16000的高等教育机构数量的3倍”

与那几个例子看不出任何差别啊

说实话，最近记性不好，重新看了一遍，也不知对不对，提出意见供大家讨论吧

其实我也不喜欢A，但觉得尚可忍受，前后平行对称看着也还比较好
