answer???我选D，其他表达上都有问题，意思错！！A，B的破折号也错。

可是，number可以和people比吗？

答案应该是B。

可是B似乎也有个很大的缺陷,除破折号外，

看起来好像THE SAME SEVEN PEOPLE not noly have been killed by shark, but also by bee stings 有没有这种感觉？

   破折号我实在不能接受：the man-eater of the movies做一个解释成分，解释white shark，后面怎么也要用逗号分开，表示作为一个插入成分啊？？

   D的比较是存在问题，我当时是排除的做的，没想到这点。。。晕了。。。

在那篇absolute phrases 里找到了一个关于破折号的依据：Since absolute phrases are optional in the sentence, they are often set off from the sentence with commas or, less often, with dashes.

有问题：1、假设破折号连接第一个逗号部分，那么如marie

2、在我看来，破折号是比逗号要更加紧密。（有兴趣，可找理由反对这一观点）

也就是本句中movies—fewer than have been killed by bee stings；fewer是在修movies。

而D选项，多么美啊，犹如貂禅那样~~~~虽然你们觉得是祸水，反正我喜欢！

a number 指代前面的seven而非people；最后一部分，可以明白无误地跳过中间那部分，补充说明第一部分。

纠正一个自己的错误：

刚刚翻遍了og，找到187，虽然是as many as，但是比较的意思还在：

four times as many as americans were killed as would later be killed on the beaches of Normandy during the D-Day.

解释里说含those who的选项 is a wordy intrusion.

再回到本题，已知dash没有问题，tianwangg质疑的”number可以和people比吗”也很有道理，所以尽管D中的a number曾是我的最爱，（看来JerryGG也有同感），但是觉得还是B好些。
