less 与 lower	1. lower 是长度概念：比…矮；比…短
	2. less 是数量概念：比…少，GMAT中常用less

Jerry, 见上less 与 lower的用法，lower 是不可以修饰 number 的。

看了mariezhu的引用，觉得这里的dash作用应该是和comma一样的，至于few than have ...这种表达是正确的，pumpkin已举了一例，大全里好像还有，前几天还看过有人问类似的题目，不过我找东东的本事太差了。

但是：

Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the  movies—fewer than have been  killed by bee stings.

再问：本句中movies—fewer than have been killed by bee stings；难道fewer是在语法上也可以修movies，不是歧义？

当然，从意思上看，fewer是不可能修movies的；那么是不是，文章意思可以明确指正原本语法中的歧义修饰？

我也有同感：有时只能因为意思上根本对不上，所以才不会产生歧义。

我E认为的时态不对，应该用been killed，否则意思不明确。
