   我觉得E不对的一个原因在于，fewer than后面核心就是一个名词the ones

   但是fewer than前面是一个句子

   B成立的原因在于，其实B比较的是句子，fewer than后省略people

   一点个人观点，大家讨论。。。

如果这是原句的话，B，肯定正确，

但是难道B中省略了fewer than the number of people who have been ，而且than后面也不是一个句子，和楼上pumpkin,dreadpower 不是有矛盾了吗，

记得OG中曾经提到more 修饰people,greater修饰number,不能用more 修饰number,因此我觉得fewer也是不能修饰number的，fewer只能和more一样修饰people. 见OG251的解释。所以我觉得tulipmontreal 引用的national gergraphic的例子用GMAT的语法来考查的话，fewer than the number是不对的。

这题我还是觉得选B。fewer than 后省略了people.而且B中的完成时也和前面的对称。

答案应该是B.

E的错误有2个:

1. 时态不一致

2.one错.  GMAT Verbal Workbook(KAPLAN):

   Never use one or one's to refer to any antecedent except one.

fewer 不仅可以做形容词，可以作代词，这样就不存在省掉people对不对得问题了。fewer在这里就是指代people的。我觉得B没问题

问题是24楼的原句中后面还不是用了一个分词做定语嘛，那来的时态和前面的完成时对应呢？我倒是觉得原句正好说明E是对的。B中的完成时是没有必要的，比的不是fewer people have been killed by bee sting这件事，而是fewer people这个数量，前后对称并不是绝对的。

后边没有用完成时态，而是过去时（这是对的）。但是B代入后：Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies—fewer than have benn killed by bee stings. 又是完成时态则觉得说不通。kill毕竟不是一个能够持续的动作。

是不是即使动词不是可持续动作，但是表示一个时期内这种动作的总和如何如何，是不是就可以用完成时态表达这个时期的总动作？

直到今天，半年过去了，我仍然无法彻底理解，为什么B答案不可以直接修movies ：movies -- fewer than the number killed by bee stings
