我的问题是D为什么不可以。如果有其他因素导致污染的话，就算plywood停产也会导致污染量不减少，不是吗？
D选项对原文中的因果关系进行削弱，指出其他原因可能存在，不支持结论。
这是我在网上找到的新东方对此的解释，但是这个解释，我真的看不懂，本人逻辑差生，求大家帮帮忙！！

因为这道题的前提条件已经设定，就是A recent government study links the high rates of respiratory ailment in Groverston to airborne pollutants released by the Woodco plywood manufacturing plant there.    by the Woodco plywood manufacturing plant there.就已经将作者的观点限制在这个条件下，文中没有指出其他原因会导致respiratory ailment ，所以D选项是他因，就是跑题了~

就算有其他原因导致疾病发生，也不能说明患疾病的数量不会减少吧？原来有工厂和其他原因两种原因导致疾病发生，现在工厂的没了，自然数量是相对减少的。题目并没有说要杜绝这种疾病，只要能减少即可所以D是错的

这题的结论应该是the rate of respiratory ailments will decline if the regulations go into effect，是conditional conclusion.
新东方的意思是说这道填空题解释上述结论原因，属于加强型，所以答案应该是加强结论。
D选项是weaken结论的，所以不对。
如果楼主是不懂为什么它因削弱题目，建议去看看bible和牛人的帖子。

However, the passage provides no information whatsover that implies an increase in the occurrence of such "other"factors。

如果選D  那 連regulation 也沒不能阻止疾病了。

这个解释太拗口，我的理解是：

如果因素1.减少，且患病不减少，则只有因素2.增加，但是文中没有任何暗示有（任何）此种因素增加的可能性。

所以OG的解释其实是有一个假设前提的，要先理解那个前提，即两因素引发患病。
