Hi 4Star-Admiral,
Emmm, very big questions...Since I am here, I will try to give it a shot. But these are just my personal views, only for your reference. Betty and skypacer, please feel free to add...
1. What is the uniqueness or special characteristic of Chicago GSB?
Yes we have the sterotype image of GSB: very quantitative, very "Finance", students are "socially limited"...But these are at best partially true. Let us try a different description.
The spirit of Chicago GSB is -- "Strech and Support".
I remembered this from Dean Snyder's speech during Fall Preview last year. Now after three months in the GSB, his words became more and more meaningful. Strech -- GSB is very challenging. The depth of the classes, the (sometimes overwhelming) amount of activities you are involved in, and especially, you need to take charge all by yourself. Support -- from every angle, not just the facilities, not just the staff, more so, your fellow classmates. This may not be widely advertised, or even contrary to "sterotype" views, but I found it true.
2. What make you choose Chicago GSB?
I have several personal reasons to choose GSB, but mostly is
The people from GSB. Last year, I met several students during Fall Preview and I am impressed. I really liked their engergy and maturity. And this year, when I get to know more of my first year classmates, I feel fortunate to be here. Of course, not 100% of the students are stars, and you will find some are of "bad quality". But almost everyday I keep on meeting very interesting people and the experience still excites me.
3. What kind of students is Chicago looking for?
Intelligent, solid and fun to be with. This is my personal interpretation, or observation.
You should have alreay heard about the "official" quality many many times -- academic excellence, leadership experience and diversity. All of these hold true. Just hope my personal interpretation can shed light from a different angle.
Hope this can be helpful...Do wish you good luck!
