问一下楼主一个比较弱智的问题。本人G只有650分，由于时间较紧张，正犹豫要不要三战。这个分数会不会去Rice是不是没什么优势啊？本人属于大龄人士（大于30），普通大学+211硕士，7－8年财务和税务经验。
本人对Rice还是很感兴趣的，因为工作在石油行业，公司总部在Houston，莫名其妙的亲近感。

有时间肯定要考G啊。 坛子里面关于G分数的讨论很多， 基本符合现实。我感觉你的工作经验是够了， 但是不能因为G就拖后腿吧，说句老实话不要以为rice排名不算靠前，就能随便申请了。 Rice这两年在美国很热门， 据我们admission director讲，在2010年度（也就是今年刚入学的）报考人数又创新高，增长31%，平均入学G分数是673.

Please see below for informationon the Full-Time Class of 2013:

·        Applicationsincreased 31% to 715, an eight yearhigh.  Based on discussions with peer programs, our application growth wasabove the industry average for this year.  A portion of the growth can beattributed to the Rice MBA program’s appearance in the Business Week top-30rankings.
·        The growth inapplications allowed the admissions committee to improve selectivity(the percent of applicants that are admitted to the program) to 25%. This is the best selectivity on record for the Jones School and is asignificant improvement over last year’s 36%.  Based on 2011 U.S. News andWorld Report Rankings, our selectivity of 25% is on par with:  Duke,Virginia, Michigan, Cornell and several other top 20 programs.
·        Of those admitted,approximately 63% joined the Jones School – another best ever metric andone that sets us apart from peer programs.  This yield is better than allbut six of the top 50 programs based on the most recent rankings.  Ouryield this year is particularly impressive given that we also grew the domesticpopulation from outside Texas to 32%, the highest percentage onrecord.  This is an indication that we are becoming more of a destinationschool rather than a regional player.
·        Average GMATimproved one point over last year to 673,median was unchanged at 680; Average GPA:  3.4, flat compared tolast year.
·        Diversity:  
Females - The class is 26% female, a decline from last year.  Basedon conversations with peer schools, most programs saw a significant decrease inapplications from women this year.  Because of that, the market forfemales (domestic females in particular) became highly competitive.  Theindustry perspective is that when the economy has been in decline, females optto take a more cautious approach to making the investment in an MBA.
UnderrepresentedMinorities - The population ofunderrepresented minorities declined slightly to 13% but it is still amongstthe best of the top tier MBA programs.  
International - Much of this year’s application growth came from theinternational market, which is a signal that our global reputation isincreasing.  The Class of 2013 is 22% international.  Theadmissions committee became increasingly selective with this market due to theongoing challenges with employment visa sponsorship post-graduation. Also, there was a strategic focus on Latin America to have a broaderrepresentation of students and to capitalize on its proximity to Houston. The Class of 2013 is 10% Latin American with students hailing from Brazil,Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.

其实自己心里有主意，只是希望找Supporting来强化自己的意见。

请问LZ，如果之前完全没有能源方面的背景的话会不会比较难申请，毕业后也比较难找工作啊？还有RICE对工作年限有没有什么要求啊，2年会不会太短呢？

这个帖子是写我对非top20学校的理解，以及什么样的人适合考虑此类mba

首先， 我先写写对post-MBA life的理解。我可以直白的说， 排名20靠后， 包括部分15,20之间的mba，在中国未必有市场， 处于不上不下的尴尬境地。相比之下， 可能在美国找工作， 更有性价比和高投资回报。当然， 前提条件是， 你适应和喜欢在美国的生活， i.e.用两句话归纳美国的生活就是：自己动手，丰衣足食 (vs, 国内保姆伺候，随时下馆子， 随时呼朋唤友到处HAPPY）；好山好水好无聊（vs.国内是好脏好乱好热闹）

基于这样的假设， 那么下面一个问题就是，在当前的经济形势下，mba毕业后能在美国找到工作么， 找的到什么工作？再下一个问题， 关系到申请，就是基于每个申请人的条件， 你想做什么？

因为20后面的mba都属于regional mba, 立足于本地区的经济， 外加学校本身academic的一些优势。

说这些， 无非就是想提醒大家， 申请美国的mba， 别以为申请上了， 就完事儿了。 到了美国， 找实习， 找工作， 都是跟美国人竞争， 因为基本没有什么退路回国内（当然这个有点儿说的极端了）， 没有语言优势， 没有文化优势， 如果再没有可圈可点的工作背景， 凭什么跟美国人竞争？即拿着使当初学校给的$来上学， 过几个月却因为实习或者工作搞不定而纠结抓狂，这样的感觉不太好吧。

我的总结就是， 上美国的MBA， 要么就是上顶尖的学校， 在美国在中国赚大钱（当然，都是辛苦钱）；如果上不了， 那么就找有奖学金的localMBA， 但是必须满足以下条件之一： 要么是location 特别好；要么学校某一专业方向的就业特别好。

所以， 我感觉， 申请local mba， 不比申请top mba容易， 因为更需要你仔细想清楚职业方向和你未来的生活方式， 然后选学校。
