Is there anyone who already have another Master applying for a MBA near his 30s?

Actually, a friend of mine get a MiF degree in US 5 yrs ago and worked in commercial banking (Global Market Dept-CIB) for 5 years and he is now considering for another high payed job(IB or Fund Secruities firms...) in china. I am really sorry i can't give more details about him...Will a MBA degree be helpful?

In this case, it might be helpful, it might be otherwise. Really depends on his current salary and his expectation after MBA.

When considering doing or not doing the MBA, you should think carefully.  If he wants to go to IB,  that's fine if he doesn't have a family life. However, if he does, then it's not for him.  It's the same for large consulting firms. You get higher pay, you input more time and effort.

Degree is not a problem at all. I see a few of our classmates have PH.D degrees. What really matters is your goal. What you really want to get from the MBA program? Career change? Skills or what?


Doing the MBA, you need to think of the involvement of your time as well as opportunity. Of course, you have to study hard, really hard, much harder than you could expect.

So, if you already thought of those factors, then go!

yes...but MBA is a huge investment..100,000 USD..almost 700,000 RMB almost his 5 years salary!
I know it is very general question thus it is difficult to answer...but do you guys think TOP10 MBA will help? His work in bank is quite tech-intensive and project-based. Will the reputation of the school, creative view about the whole business  and excellent managment knowledge help him?
