You need an OPI score to submit. But the OPI is a bit more 'flexible'- sometimes Lauder grants conditional admits- admits, given you can get your OPI up to the standard needed for admission.

Good luck with your essays, and don't worry too much about trying to be 'unique'. PARTICULARLY within Lauder, everyone is unique. I really haven't seen anyone with a 'normal' living and studying experience within our programme.

A specific question - why does Wharton ask about if the applicant is "the first generation to attend college" in its online application required questions? Any implication?

A general question - what if I chose a specialization/concentration different from my current job?  Would it indicate that I am a "career switcher?"  E.g., I am a management consultant, but I choose corporate finance or entrepreneureship as my primary field of interest.  And I am told that a career switcher will have to face more scrunity unless he/she produces highly convincing essays - is that so?  lease kindly elaborate on this.  Many thanks!

Specific: No implication. This is probably for reporting purposes.
General: Career switchers face exactly the same amount of scrutiny. The criteria is self-awareness, maturity and understanding of why you want a specific career and, linked to why you want it, what you need to do to get there. This is exactly the same regardless of whether you're a career enhancer or career switcher. If someone told you otherwise, they obviously have a different opinion, so you'll have to decide who to trust.

New York Times article on how a college looks at the transcript

This is from a college, not a business school, but the way they look at things are the same. Look at the questions they ask: they go far more in-depth than "what is his GPA" or "what is his SAT/GMAT score". Admissions thinks a lot more deeply about you as a person, and that includes academics, career, and everything else associated with the application.
