Hi Jason,

Do you have any idea about Wharton Interactive Media Initiative? Is it the research or a club?if it is a club, what is difference between this and M&E club? what exactly is it dealing with? I have browsed the website, but not quite get it.

I wonder if you have some insights to share

Thank you so much~~

Fellowship essays

Hi Jason

I'm preparing for Fellowship essays and have two quick questions --

1. do I have to send it along with my application materials for 1st round? Or I can send you after admitted?

2. do readers for Fellowship essays also read my application essays? Otherwise, we will need to spend some words describing some stories told in application essays. If they do, it will be fantastic as no repeating is needed.

Thank you very much for your response.

Hi, Jason

Regarding my career path, my short-term goal is to do strategy consulting after graducation from MBA although I am working in general mgmt in manufacturing and long-term goal is to become a great CEO of a multinational coroporation.

Do you think it is reasonable and understandable?

I'm not sure if adcom feels that the short-term goal as consultant is meaningless because I don't know if I would be CEO from a consultant.

Hi Jason,

When does Wharton start extending interview invitations.  This year's deadline for applications is Oct 1.  So maybe 6 weeks later around 11/10-11/15?

Sorry all for the late replies, I've been very busy with school..

amy>

This may be too late, but send them together, and no, the fellowship essays are read separately.

kendra>

It certainly doesn't sound meaningless. Many people take that path. Just make sure you know why you want to do it, and if you have a genuine, well-thought out answer, you'll be fine.

That sounds about right.

Dear Jason

I spent pretty much the entire afternoon reading all you replies and learned so much about Wharton. As an international student I thank you very much for doing this,I can't believe you acutally answered EVERY SINGLE question people have asked. Lauder program was actually recommeded to me by a friend of mine in John Hopkins (I am currently in D.C not so far away from Wharton)and immidiately I fell in love with the program. Before I address my questions please allow me to tell you my stories in short: born and raised in China until the age of 18 then moved to Europe, studied in France for three years then transfered to the U.S college and got a bachelor degree in Intenatioanl Relations. After graduation, I moved to D.C and interned in two organizations. So basically I am fluent in Chinese, French and English.

Just a few questions for our lovely Jason!

1) I know I will have to take French as my track because of the non-native speaker rule, however I do want to focus on the Chinese market (the research you are doing right now sounds way too compelling!). Is it because I choose French as my track that I will have to concentrate on the French/European business field? In another words, do I have the flexibility to study Chinese business studies with my French track?

2)I am going back to China on Nov 18th which leaves me a month to prepare all the application materials. Will you say its a good idea to do a campus-visit? Will it be a good investment (time and money wise)?

3)Will I be able to take OPI while I am in China? I am really overwhelmed by GMAT and all the application stuff so I dont'think I will be well prepared for the OPI.

looking forward to hearing from you.

Yi

PS: I think i add you on fb><

dear Yi,

1) the bulk of your discussions, and all your language training etc will be in French, but you can do your graduation project dealing with multiple countries- including China. So yes.

2) If you wanted to get a feel of the programme, go ahead. It doesn't help nor hurt your admission chances, however. If you are coming back to the US before the interview period and wanted to visit then (esp. if you had a specific qn) you could also do it then. So really, if you're pressed for time and want to visit just for the sake of it, I'd say it's not necessary.

3) Yes, the OPI is a call-in test. You can always call-in from China. Many people call-in from all over the world- most Lauder students aren't applying from the US.

Glad to be of help

Dear Jason:

big thanks for your information, truely helpful! I actually have a ok GPA/ GMAT score,so now I am working hard on my essays trying to address on my unique living and studying experience.

One quick question: do I have to wait until I am done with the OPI test to complete the application process? Can I still submit the online application without the OPI score? thinking about applying Lauder before Nov 18th,then do the OPI after I go back to China.

Yi
