关于twice的用法

ICEONME说的很对, 不过我有一个疑问, 关于twice的第一个用法,

twice the + noun.

这个与 predeterminer double的用法(double the + noun), 是不是一样的啊?

404.In the 1980’s the rate of increase of the minority population of the United States was nearly twice as fast as the 1970’s. (大全987)

(A) twice as fast as

(B) twice as fast as it was in

(C) twice what it was in

(D) two times faster than that of（C）
            

(E) two times greater than

答案选c

但是按照道理来说, predeterminer只能是adj, twice是副词, 这个怎么解释呢?

在OG004中, 正确答案的double the figure for 1977就是对的, 因为double是adj可以做predeterminer的对吧?

不知道我说清楚没有, 这两个词和相关的前置后置已经快把我搞疯了

请NN把我从泥潭中拉出来啊...

Answer C is wrong. Because twice as ... as ... is an idiom. So my answer is B.

Answer A is not balance.

Just my one cent.

偶用LONGMAN的辞典查了一下，词条是

twice adverb, predeterminer
        (可见twice就是可以用作predeterminer)

1. two times
    He was questioned by police twice yesterday.
    twice a day/week/year etc
    (=two times in the same day, week etc)
    Letters were delivered twice a week only.
    None of our dinner menus are exactly the same twice over .
2  two times more, bigger, better etc than something else
    twice as many/much (as something)
    They employ 90 people, twice as many as last year.
    twice as high/big/large etc (as something)
        
    Interest rates are twice as high as those of our competitors.
    twice the size/number/rate/amount
    etc an area twice the size of Britain

I guess i have to say you are worng in this Q though twice as ... as ... is much idiomatic.

The point is we need to choose according to the real meaning of a sentece.

此贴学了很多可是还是有很多疑问？

1， twice和 two time虽然意思一样，可是词性不一样吧，那么所有以上牛牛列举的倍数的句型也适合twice吗？比如

         a， x times adj（比较形式）than....

         b, more than + x times +the+noun

          c, X times as adj as .......等等

 是不是以上的句型中， twice 和two times 都可以相互替代呀？？？

答案选c

这句话我觉得关键是抓主干，这句可以简化成 In the 1980's the rate was  nearly xxxxx the rate was in the 1970's.  rate 之间比较我们只能说这个rate是那个rate的几倍，不能说这个rate 比那个rate快几倍。对于twice，two times的区别感觉上ETS喜欢twice用做“二倍”这个意思，而two times做“二次”用  。我个人理解ETS优选顺序是double〉twice〉two times。不知道对不对？

另外就比较级（包括同级比较）而言，than， as后面是用that，those指代前面相同的名词，而不用it。所以b是不对的。

twice还能做determiner，直接放在n.前面，double也有这样的用法
