关于twice的用法

如果用 the number 只有一个指代
 469,000 但这里包括了 cars, 所以为了区别，用 that

这里只有一个number就是469000，所以应该不是为了区别吧？个人认为用number不用numbers的原因在于它们意思的不同：

根据OG紫皮第5题的解释，

number：refers to a specific quantity of individuals

numbers: a large crowd or multitude

句子的上下文是强调单单是卡车就有那么多了, 并不是强调卡车它们自己怎么怎么样. 所以不用themselves.

倍数+形容词. xx times taller than something or xx times as tall as something

倍数+名词 xx times  something(the/my 名词)

结果都是something, 它可以有从句来限制/修饰(that... ), 但不能是一个句子, 除非是what 引出的(what 就是那个something)

回到此题.

the amount ... is twice something.

1. that which 不好. "that that" is better, 可是仍旧不够好.

2. 没有something

3. as 不配对.

4. that emitted annually by all. something 是that,   that (that) emitted annually by all.

5. compared to 是多余的,twice 已经在表示比较了.
