To snekid,

Normally Sloan does not grant deferral to admissions
unless the candidate has a solid reason. I will
suggest you to check in with the school and ask if under your
situation, will there be a granted deferral.

Good luck!!

Hi Behemoth,

One friend who graduated from top US B-schools told me that MIT does not prefer students from Tsinghua University - strangely enough, isn't it? Do you have any opinion about that? How many people do you know admitted by Sloan are from Tsinghua University (bachelor or master)?

Thanks a lot

Dear All Sloaners,

Today I just read an article about MIT Sloan, & it says that different from other MBA program, Sloan requires all graduates to write a paper before graduation.

Is that true?

How long will the paper be?

Dear Behemoth,  能否介绍一下LFM program? LFM你觉得毕业后的就业形势和一般MBA相比,有不同的地方吗?

另外目前经济形势比较差,你觉得对MBA就业有没有影响?谢谢!

Hi bestluck,

From what I know, this is definitely not true since from class 2008 - 2010, we have 12 students from Tsinghua (Undergrad or Grad). The number represents about ~45% in the China pool. So what your friend said might just be an urban legend

And from the school perspective, I really can't think of any reason why Sloan won't prefer students from Tsinghua if your academic and professional exp are outstanding. So I would recommend you just go ahead and apply for Sloan. Good luck!

To tinywhite,

Can you cite the source of the article you read about? Sloan doesn't require a thesis for graduation unless you are LFM students. In the latter case, the thesis is about your 6-month internship and the paper is about 60 pages in length.

Hi, Behemoth and all Sloanies,

Thanks a billion for your kind advise. I am applying for the R1 this year and have planned my trip to Boston on Oct/14. I wonder if you can spare a few minutes with my wife and me on Oct/13, /14 or /15? Maybe just a coffee break or, if possible, a dinner would be perfect. Please feel free to add my MSN:

Any solid insight from Sloanies is valuable for me. I appreciate any kind of help and I also understand Sloan is just super busy. If it's not a good timing, please let me know.

Hi, Behemoth and all Sloanies,

I am applying for R1 and have a question about the cover letter format.  Does it have to be a letter format including the address and date?  Or using "Dear Mr. Garcia:" to start the letter is enough?

Thanks.
