I dont know if you still come to this post. But I still have a try.
1. I know MIT have a joint programme named CLFM in Shanghai, do you
still look for candidates for LFM in China? If yes, will interview be
hold in Shanghai?

2. I have a chemistry bachelor and a material science master degree in
China, and have taken GMAT. Which school do not need a TOEFL or in which condition 
can waive it of the 8 affiliated engineering school?

偶是一工程师背景,看到很多资料都说MIT这所工程著名的学校MBA招的ENGINEERING BACKGROUND并不多.说它喜欢ECONOMY和ACCOUNTING的背景的,有这样么回事吗? 今年想申请,但想先探听好几率,不知道SLOAN甩不甩ENGINEER? 我是能源电力方面的工程背景

China LFM 是2007 年开始的和SJTU合作的项目，MIT主要的support是授权China LFM的名字，帮助SJTU建立这个program（他们的课程设置和LFM基本上差不多）,给SJTU的老师培训，还有一些和MIT LFM一起在上海搞活动，最后MIT 会授给一个certificate, 但是学位是SJTU的，所以我觉得招人还有program的运作应该是SJTU负责吧。

Sloan本科读工程的人的比例这几年一直没有太大变化~40%+ (如果把CS算在工程里头），mit 对工程师还是很欢迎的，因为可以和mit的其他学科很好的融合在一起，而且能应付sloan比较量化的课程。当然每个商学院都讲究diversity, 所以sloan也会招了不少economics, social science的人。

Cover Letter
Prepare a cover letter (up to 500 words) seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA Program. Describe your accomplishments and include an example of how you had an impact on a group or organization. Your letter should conform to standard business correspondence and be addressed to Mr. Rod Garcia, Director of MBA Admissions.

hi,all guys/girls. I've heard that there was a girl who made it into MIT in 08 intake is from insurance sector(AIG). Due to my similar background, I'd like to ask:

1, How many students had insurance experience beforehand?

2,BTW, I am asking for your help to get in touch with that girl!

If an applicant gets admission from sloan this year, can he defer the offer one year? Under what situation can he does so without re-applying?

It's interesting to see the change in the cover letter requirement this year. I would suggest the following:

1. Treat the cover letter as the career path/career goal/why mba/why now/why sloan essay.
2. When talking about career path, focus on the example the letter rerquires, i.e., the achievement that impact a group or org.
3. The essay breakdown might be 200 words for career goal/why mba/why now/ why sloan, and 300 words on the achievements/impacts.
