i don't know if my friend's story will be of any use as your reference point: he got his undergrad degree in law in ireland, his home country, a couple years ago, went to china to teach english, just passed the NY bar exam, and is going back to h.k. to finish a mater's degree in law (not sure about the exact type of degree). he hopes to practice law in california or h.k.
your international backgroud perhaps is something you could leverage...
