因为不是斑竹，我不想越俎代庖。03年开始上这个论坛，一直是本着穷则独善其身，达则兼济天下的原则。可是当年曾经非常融洽的北美版，现在变成三天一小吵，五天一大吵，而且是完全没有point的吵，实在是让人不能接受。

无论是谁，不管有意或者无意，无论因为被骂/被冤枉/学校被贬低而说很冲动而不负责任的话，自己可能出了一口气，但对整个CD的环境都是很大的困扰。作为斑竹，应当约束自己的言行，给其他的人起到表率，提醒过于活跃的同学；作为在校的学生/alum，应该积极提供信息，讨论时对事不对人；作为申请人，也最好能理智一些，不要盲目的力挺某校/某人，或者发表过激言论。

作为一个建议吧。

所以需要找根源。

都是谁，每次在那里无聊挑起院校争端？

都是谁，在那里添油加醋唯恐天下不乱？

都是谁，在那里不负责任没有任何数据地只凭自己印象造谣PHD数据？

又是谁，只敢用马甲上来骂战？

我最烦的，就是这种无聊的院校比较。

不觉得wlee226关于PHD的一段话有什么不对。他说的情况还是挺普便的。关于这些统计数据当然是找不到的。但不是没有数据就不能说看到听到的情况了吧。

就我认识的人来说，大多数还是来了美国以后才决定不读PHD的。因为了解的东西不同了，因为周围人的影响，也因为面临的机会更多了。其实，很多在这里发言的人不也有类似的情况吗？应该有不少人在当年的申请里写要如何毕业后就回国发展，进MNC或自己创业，但开学一个月不到，就投入了IB/MC的大军。将心比心吧。

有时候觉得，讨论问题，所谓的复杂的逻辑，方法论都是扯淡，常识和良心，心平气和就好了。搞得那么复杂干么呢？

This is not the same logic. Drug dealers and pimps do benefit from what they do. On the other hand, wlee didnt benefit from passing on the info. And no one knew at that point that the result later bcame so dramastic.

I've seen that a lot as well. PHD candidates who intend to drop out the progames are just similar to MBA candiates who intend to change their majors. In nature, they make a promise they knew that they would not be able to keep. However, PHD is a program when the schools invest/lose money, and MBA is a program when the schools make a lot of money. Maybe that is what makes the MBA program not care about this "ethics" issue.

Really?  You mean to say that no one had the common sense to know that unauthorized access of admissions results would be illegal and unethical??

That's like saying since I didn't know something is illegal, I shouldn't be punished for violating the law... that's ridiculous.

I think those who take unethical or illegal shortcuts in life should (and hopefully will) be justly punished.

I meant to say wlee should not be punished for passing on the info. Basicically, he just referred us to a message that stated there was a way, legal or illegal, to find out the result earlier. It is up to the readers to make up their mind whether or not to try it.

I suspect that the person who posted it didn't really think to warn/remind the readers that this may in fact be illegal... so it could be argued that the advocate of illegal access bears at least some responsibility; of course, the bulk of the responsibility lie with those who didn't have the common sense/ethical standards to realize that this access was illegal/unethical.
