Sofa!! Happened to get into another one of those "marriage talk" a week or two ago. A few stories were thrown on the table, about seemingly happy and perfectly matched couples breaking up and surprising everyone around them. The moral of the story, which I think is just as applicable to here. However impressive you may seem to the outsiders, you still have to live with who you really are 24x7. Are you content? Do you feel proud of who you are? Have you made a number of close friends who will be there for you, no matter what happens? Can you look back in 30, 40 years and say you've had a meaningful and fullfilling life? Did you learn something new every day? Does life still excite you and make you look forward to the next moment? Visited a marketing class at HBS. It was the last day and the professor talked about a list of ten takeaways that she hoped her students will remember from the class. The final takeaway had nothing to do with marketing but how we live each day of our lives. She talked about how everyone is encouraged to dream big at HBS but she wanted everyone to remember to savor the little things in life. For example, the smile on your child's face, the kind gesture of a stranger, or the bright sunshine that lights up your morning as you go out to conquer the world. Only then, would you feel secure and centered, have the courage to face obstacles and failures. CD is a platform for us to help each other pursue our dreams. It is here to provide a channel for us to exchange useful information and aid each other as we move forward. What positive contributions have you made to the community? How much space have you wasted with your pretentious and disrespectful comments? Who have you helped when they're looking for guidance and for others to share their experience and insight? Will end with a quote from my mentor. Hope you find it inspiring as well. "In today's business world, you'll be much better off helping others around you than highlighting your own success."
