我是这样认为的，C，E当中it出现在句子后面，所以可以指代Algeria or Morocco

但是正确选项B中间，it出现在Morocco之后，Algeria 之前，所以就没有指代模糊的问题了。不过不知道是不是这样？

同意.我也认为是指代不清的问题,但是OG的解释说E选项的倒装awkward and confusing, 我就不明了,觉得从语法上来看,倒装得很正确呀,请高手指点.

前半部分的倒装是正确的，主要是省略了if造成主语混乱，主句混乱。never would their grip on Algeria be secure if they did not hold it 或者never would their grip on Algeria be secure should they  not hold it .我认为就可以。

不过不能改变原句的语气，所以倒装即使用对了也不能选

答案E 没抄全

og答案说inverted word order is awkward and confusing ,这里是向上面说的倒装改变了语气，不能倒装，还是答案E这句话倒装的有问题啊？

我来给合诸位NN的意见,给点我的见解.

   1  A 中没有用虚拟语气,  至于如何知道是不是虚拟语气,这就要把全句读完.这就是为什么OG说:Read the whole sentence, substituting the choice that you prefer for the underlined passage 的原因了.

   2  含蓄条件句可以用 Without/But for + noun 来表示. 且后面不需要加" , ". 例根据薄冰语法书摘录)

      But for your help we couldn't have succeed in the experiment .

  3   be of (no) interest to somebody (= be interesting to somebody) (From LONGMAN DICTIONARY)

    eg: It's a book that will be of interest to a wide range of readers.

 4   as to "affording" 不用被动问题,我专门查了世界地图,摩洛哥与西班牙之间隔着的是直布罗陀海峡.而摩洛哥的右边是阿尔及利亚. 而直布罗陀海峡的战略位置相当重要, 只控制阿尔及利亚的话,如果摩洛哥把直布罗陀海峡封锁, 这样阿尔及利亚就没有出海口了.    所以说是摩洛哥靠近直布罗陀海峡, "affording "是用来修饰摩洛哥的(MOROCCO).

insecure 和never be secure可以替换吗？

在LONGMAN中查到insecure的解释如下

1.not feeling at all confident about yourself, your abilities, or your relationships with people

2.a job, investment etc that is insecure does not give you a feeling of safety, because it might to be taken away or lost at any time

3.a building or structure that is insecure is not safe, because it could fall down

句中的secure是安全的意思，与以上三个都不符合，所以我认为不能替换。

还有想问楼上能否翻译下这句话，句中afford到底是什么意思啊

The French 表示法国人 (the +国家),是固定用法,谓语要用复数.
