chenxihong,

It's good to have international experience in your life. I am not quite sure whether you find Mexican English hard to understand, here in Kellogg I have some classmates from South America. Their English is quite easy for me to understand. But whatever, later when you sutdy in Kellogg or other top B school, you will be happy for your current experience. Kellogg has 30% internationl students, all speaking different "English", but that't what exactly makes the diversity so amazing in B schools. Don't just focus on their accent, hear what's behind and you will love the diverse culture and wisdom.

No worry for missing the SH and BJ presentation. Come to visit Kellogg and us next year, we are heare to share and help!

Ring,

Our holiday is from Dec 10 to Jan 2. New quarter starts from Jan 3rd. But this is for students only. All the staff at Admission Office is working on the admission jobs. So don't stop your work.

For the GMAT and TOEFL scores, you must requrire ETS to send the OFFICIAL REPORTS, which is the ONLY records and source Kellogg recognizes.

Hi KelloggMBA07:

I have a question here about the trascript.  I found in the Kellogg website that adcom requires the applicants to fill the "transcript request form" which is sealed by the registrar and send to school.  However, I don't find any so called "transcript request form" on the school web.  Can I just send my certified transcript which is issued and sealed by school to school without "transcript request form"?  Your early response would be highly appreciated!

昨天的session上介绍说,Kellogg还是很支持创业的。请问在毕业的学生中,自己创业的占多少比例呢?大概是start了什么样的公司,IT、service or others?如果创业的不多,大多数毕业生都去了什么行业?

thx in advance!

Spanish English is aweful. They are the people I want the least to talk to.

Indian English is no better than Spanish English......

But maybe u could add some Spanish flavor to your English with your interview.

Anyway, good luck, chenxihong!

Kellogg celebrates diversity in its students and leadership.  lease be careful with this type of attitude. Saying such phrases like "Spanish English is awful" and that "they are the people you want the least to talk to" will not get you very far at Kellogg.

Also, did you know that the Dean of Kellogg is Indian and has a strong Indian English accent?

Chinese people sometimes have difficulty being understood by others when they speak English, so the world would be a much better place if we were more tolerant of different ways of speaking English.

Thanks for initiating help here. I would like to know if any Chinese study MBA (real estate) at Kellogg, and how about their placement if you are aware for the past 2-3 years. Many thanks.

Hello, I do not know of any Chinese studying real estate as a major at Kellogg, but I have taken a class in Real Estate Development and I know many of my friends have taken real estate classes.

I think if you are a career switcher into real estate, it is essential for you to get real estate as one of your majors to show your true interest.  However, one thing I learned from my class, is that you have to go out there and actually DO Real Estate, by getting involved in research, transactions, developlment, financing, sales, advertising, in order to really learn it.

The people who are interested in real estate at Kellogg seem to be a tight-knit community, because they are very passionate about real estate, and they are not doing it for the money (often people who go into real estate do not get a very high salary after MBA, unless they do banking).

As for placement, everyone I know who wants to do real estate gets into a real estate job after Kellogg.

Hi kelloggMBA07,

Thanks in advance.

I also have a problem. Kellogg's official website informs that it has no minimun requirement about TOEFL, but the average score is above 650. My TOEFL is only at 617 and thus I have a big concern. Meanwhile, although my GMAT is at 740, AWA is below the average.  According to your experience, do you think I still have any possibility and could have a try? Or I might change my target to other schools such as Columbia?

Hi triumph_tt,

I think that's great that you got the 740 GMAT; that's one thing you don't have to worry about anymore.  However, for the TOEFL, if you have time to take it again before you apply, I suggest you try to raise this score.  If you don't have time to take it again, I suggest that you apply to Kellogg anyway.  You never know if you'll get in unless you try, and the rest of your application may be so strong that they will give you admission even with that TOEFL score.

Another thing to consider is that if your TOEFL or AWA is very low, you may want to take the summer before business school to really work on your English, no matter which school you go to.  Otherwise, you will have a really tough time going to a business school in the U.S.  You may need to spend double the time on your assignments or you may not feel very confident to speak in class, which is very important here at business school.
