第一段：在第一次世界大战爆发前，大量来自欧洲不同国家的画家开发了一种被描述为有预言性的艺术作品。这些作品的风格大不相同，但是与文艺复兴时期的具象作品有着重要的割裂。
第二段：这些艺术作品通常被认为不仅预见了艺术的后续发展，还预见了战争后的政治和社会分裂。一位艺术评论家指出：它们价值在于预见能力，而不是对艺术技术的突破。
第三段：没有人会否认，艺术家可以像政治家一样，预测未来，然后试图通过使用特定风格或者图像来表达对未来的看法。但是，这种能力应该归功于画家们非凡的审美创新，而不是对政治和实施的的聪明猜测。（举例：P&B）
第四段：同样重要的是，不是所有决定性的艺术变化都是预测性的的。（举例：D——他的变化可能来源于1830年的政治动荡而出现的新的社会环境）

在第一次世界大战爆发前几年，一些欧洲不同国家的发展艺术的画家称prophetic：画通过挑战观察者。。。。。会非常不一样。他们带来广阔不同的艺术风格，但这些都有一个非常重要的打破传统代表艺术回到文艺复兴得共同点。
所以并不奇怪发现这些艺术家能打破传统的基础—在毕加索和。。。。。之间。通常anticipate不仅有艺术的发展，还有现代社会在战争中和战争后变得动荡。一个艺术评论家声称这些艺术工作非常prophetic，不仅他们打破了传统艺术技术，组成了他们主要的价值。
没有人会否认一个艺术家会像作家或者政治家。尤其是关于未来，而且他们试图用过艺术风格来表达未来的情景。
不是所有的绘画形式会随着戏剧性的世界变化。举例De

P1: before WW1： painters‘ paintings that can challenge viewers to anticipate the future. different styles but same with break with traditions and back to Renaissance
P2: not surprising that these articst (Picasso, Braque, Mal)  can discover that, because 1: anticapte not just subsequent devlopments in art; 2: but also political social disruptions being and after the WW1; the painting has not only the break with traditional but constitutes with value
P3: painters specualte future; cuz: forward looking quality >- exceptional aesthetic innovations rather than guesss; their representation more real than you can see from eyes
P4: not all decisive changes changes quickly followed events from world; eg: Delacroix: startled his contemporaries, still retain the power over the moredern views; art historians decided D has adjusted alredy to political upheavals, as opposed to others who supposed the changes still to come (not yet)
