[Main Idea] Measurement bias is difficult to avoid. Scientists found that there was a bias in one year's ocean temperature data, and that was because the data getting from American and British ships were different.
[Structure]
P1: Background: All scientists know that measurement bias could cause errors.
e.g. Mental ruler becomes longer in warm temperature.
P2: What should do? Measurement bias is inevitable and need to be taken in to account.
P3: An example: The differences between how British and American ships measured the temperature of surface water.
P4: T discovered a sudden drop of 0.5 degree in 1945.
P5: Since 1939, American ships got higher temperature data by using different method. (engine and pipe, not bucket)
P6: T realized that more data was recording from British ships started from 1945.(20% to 50%)
P7: Climate researchers will take the bias into account, but that won't change the fact that the global warming exists.
