在下愚见，这个在Prep08的笔记当中有提到过，如果not only but also没有倒装的话，即正常语序的话，not only but also一定要在形式上平行，但是如果not only后面倒装的话，but also之间可以加入代词。

4.20        外國人並沒有把not only…but also…當做固定搭配，而是在表示轉折的時候一種標磚說法，就類似於although...（but）...語義上，後一句一定有“但是”，但是“but”不用寫出來。因此才有but also中also可以省略，但but不能省略的說法。

not merely… but (also)

但正确答案没but呀，所以可以用not only...also吗？

不好意思，刚才的是我自己的笔记，我没怎么思考就贴上去了，一方面是我直接判断的是A对，其他几项错的有点离谱，一方面是题目做多了，比较相信自己的语感，反倒是以前的一些很细的条条框框不记得了。
1.我去Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English里面查了一下，字典中给出的解释是not only...(but) also.
韦氏字典我没查到，但是朗文的可靠性也比较高。不会贴图，所以没法论证
2.以上的笔记，我查了下来源，是源于Manhattan，具體是在第六版的第九章idoms，145页，其中有对not only...but also句型的举例，其中有一句对的句子是
We wore NOT ONLY boots But sandals.

这是所谓的句意优于结构吗 pilfer的主语是thieves 而CDE里按照和not only平行的倒装句结构都是把valuable information当成主语

OG的解释强调了这是两个Predicate，所以必须得有两个subject,仔细看的话下划线里没有最开始的逗号。

所以句子的结构一开始就是定好的了，这是两个句子，不能用最常见的结构： X not only does A but also does B；而应该用X not only does A,(but) it also does B。注意前半句的倒装。

通过这道题和17的很多新题以及这次9月的考试我深刻感觉到了gmat对于盲目遵守hard rules的惩罚，考试的时候这样的exception真的不少见。这考试考的真的是effective communication而已。
