我是選C,但我想問的是,中間從heavily開始算是插入句嗎?以及heavily與staying這樣算平衡嗎?

中间那句应该不是插入句, 如果去掉中间的句子,那整个句子的意思就不通了.

heavily和staying没有关系, heavily是修饰barb的, 只是barbed和staying的用法不平衡.

我觉得这道题的选项是D, 对吗?

但是有點懂了,,中間 heavily與staying是在講stinger的,,應該是吧

mm如果用which放在heavily之前，同时补出助动词，那么就简单了；过去分词和现在粉刺并列修饰前面的名词没有问题（虽然ETS强调对比，并列的一致性，但只要逻辑表达没有问题也是可以的，记得GWD上面有一道SC，是什么植物 or 草原与鸟比较的，用的就是like；），记得是OG还是XDF上面有类似的题目，可以去搜索一下；

E. The honeybee’s stinger is heavily barbed and staying where it is inserted, with the result that the act of stinging causes

我觉得这道题应该选E，请大家指教。 C和E的不同之处在于C的主干是Stinger...results in the fact that ...
E的主干是Stinger is heavily barbed and stays where it is 这整一个特征事实with the result that ...
关键在于是“蜇刺”导致了后面的结果，还是“蜇刺”的这些特点（heavily barbed, stay where it is）导致了后文的结果。鉴于ETS总喜欢考主谓逻辑意义上的搭配，我觉得E更合理点。
Longman上的参考例句：
1. with the result that
Sara wasn't at school last week, with the result that she missed an important test. 是前面半句说的整个事实导致了后面缺考的结果。
2. result in something
to make something happen
... an accident that resulted in the death of two passengers

a选项中“，”后是this，其目的是指代前面的全句，在这种情况下，可以的一种修改是变成with the result that 的形式，因此，才有b,d,

franciscoliu , 不知你的正确答案从何而来，是不是GWD现在又把答案改成E了。另外如果你有更准确地出处，再帮着看看E项中是staying还是stays, 因为这道题很久前有网友贴出过，当时给的是stays, 答案跟天山一样也是C，不过我现在倒是倾向于E.
