急啊!!!! 我申请2007 FINANCE PHD, 本来就是准备搏一把. 不料两星期前RP大爆发,拿了一个保险公司的精算工作OFFER. 要求我2月9号必须答复. (没两天了). 如果答复的话, 我不想在9月毁约离开.

本来铁了心申请,根本没有打算要. 但是拿到这个OFFER之后, 导师和同学都劝我说FINANCE PHD 竞争太激烈. 而且有实际工作经验后对申请和研究都有很大帮助. 劝我先工作几年再申请.

我自己从兴趣上讲肯定是PHD >>>>>>>WORK. 但是我很担心我的条件不够FINANCE PHD, 怕拒了工作之后什么都没有了. (由于时间差原因, 到4-5月再找工作绝对不可能了). 同时我也想知道保险公司的工作经验是否对将来申请和之后的学习有帮助, 如果有, 那工作也不错.

拜托各位有经验的牛人分析一下, 两天内就要做决定, 拜托了!

以前报过,再报一下背景:

本科中科大金融,GPA 3.6. 现在Univ Wisconsin - MADISON 精算MASTER在读, 寄出去的TRANSCRIPT上是11门课,GPA 3.9

GMAT 770 / 5.5

有三个精算和RISK MANAGEMENT领域的牛人推荐, 但没有FINANCE领域的推荐!! (这是一个失误啊!)

无PAPER,无工作经验

请大家仁者见仁智者见智吧,拜托各位了!

背景很好了不知道你都申请什么学校了 top 100里肯定会有能录你的只要你定位的准确

你的背景不错，如果申请的学校档次拉开的话，应该没什么问题。你仔细看看工作offer合同的条款，对于提前离职有什么特别说明，就我感觉美国这边工作流动性很大，没人会管你何时走人，可以先答应了再说。

Lz's background is pretty good. If you can make sure the recommenders write you as top5%(very strong recommendation) in the evaluation, you have a great chance to get admitted by at least top 25 schools. Anyway, I think finance phd in wisc will consider you favorably. Don;t tell me you don't even have a chat with those professors in finance program. Good luck.

Sorry can not type Chinese right now.
I applied 20 univ, ranging from Cornell, CMU to Univ of Iowa, Univ of Wisconsin.
My weakness is I don't have recommendation from Finance Professor, because they are not familiar with me.
I did talk with Finance Profs in UW-Madison, all I get is :" I encourage you to apply"

There may not be a contract about my job, but it's so rude and irresponsible to accept it and leave within 4 monthes (June - September). So I will not do that definitely.

Thank you everyone and hope more ppl can give me advices.

I'm taking Finance PhD courses this semester, so it doesn't appear on my transcript sent.

I don't have many hard courses under my belt, that's one problem.

try to contact the programs u applied, see if u can get any positive feedback.

I did contact all of them yesterday. Most of them gave me very fast feedback this morning.

Within them, most said they can't give me any information right now, or even :" we haven't started"

Only the Indiana University gave me an important feedback, that I'm within their top 15 waiting list. But they will only admit 3 this year!!! So chance for that university turned out to be very low.

It's sad that Indiana is around the middle (or first 1/3 quartile) of my application list, I doubt my chance this year : (
