Guys, need your help again.

I happened to have got interview invitation from U Indiana and visit invitation from Boston College.

For I accepted that job, I have to withdraw it. (I really don't want to

Since I just want work for a while to accumulate some experience and
familarity of finance industry, I will apply PhD in Finance again.

What's your suggestion about what I should say to those
university?  I want to give them a sense that I'm still serious
about PhD, but just had to make a decision because of "risk aversion".

For those who applied for the same universities as me, best luck!

I don't mean what to tell, I mean how to do that politely.

If you really want to pursue a PHD degree, do not miss these opportunities. Working experience means nearly nothing for application to finance PHD program.

Guess I didn't say explain my situation clearly.

The problem is not what I should choose.

I already answered 'yes' (I have no choice at that time) to that company and don't want to damage my "RP".

But on the other hand, since it's very possible that I apply for Finance PhD again in future, I want to withdraw my application carefully.

The question is 'how?'. How to make a university still want to consider you again in future after you withdrew once?

Maybe to tell them the truth is not a bad idea.

I know your problem. In my opinion, you can tell the company the truth: you want to continue the studies. Most probably they will understand your situation. If this does not work, then you may consider withdrawing the applications. The main reason I ask you to do so is that working experience can not help you get into the top finance PHD program. Every year there are many new applicants who may have very strong background.Even if these two programs have offered you admission this year, I do not think they will definitely give you admission in future. Remember: the decision on whether to offer admission to a particular applicant depends both, on the quality of this applicant, and on the strength of other applicants applying for the same year. If you still insist that you want to work first. Just tell these two schools you change your career path and want to gain some working experience first. After that will apply to them again. Be aware that once you miss the opportunities, they may never come again.

Thank you very much.

Is it bad as well if I work 3 months (from June to September) and quit the job?

In my belief it's still dishonesty (and even worse), but do companies mind that?
