This is a group of happy UT-Austin McCombs 2008 students taking questions. For a brief introduction: McCombs ranks 19 in Business Week, and its ranking is very stable in recent years. Here is the MBA ranking profile, but you need to subscribe in order to view details: http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/04/index.html Here is the school home page: http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/ In 2008, 7 mainland Chinese get into UT-Austin. 4 in IT related background, 3 in Accounting related background. In 2007, 4 mainland Chinese get into UT-Austin. I am not sure about the background, but all of them get internship. The placement of 2006 will be updated later. In summary, the US economy is going upside, and the job opportunity in Texas is very optimistic. Here is some of my thoughts of UT-Austin McCombs: 1. It is the best University and best MBA program in Texas and even the whole South. Bearing in mind that Houston is the 4th largest city in US and there are a lot of job opportunities here, esp. in Corporate jobs. 2. It is especially friendly to IT people and accounting people, as I observed. Seems no quotar applies. 3. In last year's application, nobody in China applied in the first round!!!!!! It seems we did not put much attention to such a great University. 4. Austin is a great city, usually ranks No1 in the most sutitable place to live in US. 5. It offer recruiting scholarship, from 5000-20000 USD( a one time scholarship) to international students. I think the chance we Chinese get it is 50%. Meanwhile, I would also like to say that McCombs is not a Top 10 MBA program. So if your target is only Top 10 or Top 5, or if your short term goal is wall street, McCombs may not be your best choice. However, there is still a 2006 Chinese MBA graduate going to Wall Street this year. Any questions about the program or application is welcome. Remember, be fit to the program, and I think adcom will choose you. [attachimg]49762[/attachimg]
