我想问下A选项was 为什么放在the national average 前面？就是说如果不考虑the national average 表达不清楚的错误，为什么不应该是as the national average was to be self-employed?

我来试试看哈，
1. 一般来说莫名其妙的倒装GMAC是不推荐的，除非比较对象是一长串单词组成的名词+简单的动词。此时可以倒装以维持句子结构的平衡。但是这个句子中，倒装的意义没了；而且名词后还有个to be self-employed结构
2. 这个句子是个主语比较，而且比较对象很简单，所以即使不补出was也不会对句子意思的理解有影响

3：根据平行 americans 不与 average 对应   或者根据 as...as的主语比较 是不加be的   比较宾语才加动词
