A few days earlier, my best friend came to me desperately bacause she was rejected by a famous international company. She cried for the unwritten rules that only a student from top colleges has the right to be interviewed, although she had prepared for the precious interview deliberately for months and she was confident in being a competitive candidate of that position. I feel extremely sorry for her, as well as for the modern society. From my perspective, it is the rigid rules that not only make the recruitment unfair, but also deprive the valuable opportunities for young people today.
Everyone on the earth is unique. However, strict rules seem to shape the specialty to similarity. For instance, the symbol of a successful man in China today, as a basic rule, is that owning an independent apartment, a good car, and a stable work. From that strange rule, we can easily understand why China has such a large number of bachelors working crazily for house and money nowadays. For young people today, in my opinion, they should be permitted a supportive environment for shaping and perfecting themselves. Unfortunately, a number of the young are forced to pursue wealth and reputation instead of maintaining their own personalities, for the sake of rules restricted by the current society.
As a Chinese saying goes that everyone has his faults, actually no one could perfectly fit the rigid disciplines. A lot of celebrities in China, especially the younger celebrities, are prone to make themselves look more like a “standard beauty” or a “perfect man” by having some micro-operations on eyes, nose or breast. From my standpoint, this phenomenon is derived from the unspoken rule in the entertainment industry, fiercely driving the young to chase the “golden rule of beauty”. Obviously, unspoken rules are so widespread among the public. For example, the competitive candidates of the Voice of China were once rejected by a tutor just because they are not handsome enough to attract fans to purchase their CDs. What a rediculous rejection!
Hereby too many strict rules are endangering young people’s personalities and getting rid of their chances to show themselves. Admittedly, rules are essential to a well-operated society. In my mind, rules should play as a reference or a model in modern society, instead of a restriction that kills the young.
