我要是考的时候碰到这题我会选C

D中就算and表因果关系，但是应该没有那个“，”，所以是错的。

E中with the result that是正确的，可以用google一下，科学论文中就有几十万个，但是系表结构和谓语动词结构的并列实在是不敢恭维。

所以选C,无论是从并列角度和ETS的表达习惯上来讲都是上上之选！！！

关于 C and D, stinger 好像都不能说 results 什么什么，而应该是整件事情，逻辑感觉不对。

至于E, 感觉从来 with 在句尾的结构都是有问题的，记忆中没有作为正确的选项出现过。所以，也是很便扭的。

不过，相比之下，逻辑的问题更突出，既然没有最好只有更好，我只能勉强选 E 了……

我支持E, 虽然我选了D, 想法如下:

后来查了查国外的报纸文献还有字典 with the result that是一个idiom用法

with the result that表示一个结果 而且是指由barbed and stays造成的结果

D用连词来连接stays和result 这种因果关系不如E表达得清晰有效 

比起D来 更不同意选C  C的句子中心说的是stinger来results in...但是我觉得题目的句子中心在由barbed and stay这两个动作导致的结果 所以C没有E好

感觉好多人都在抠语法细节，而忘记了句子的意思才是最重要的。 how can stinger result in the act??
