Q13:
If x and y are positive, is 3x > 7y?
(1) x > y + 4

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is
sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

I am not NN. The answer is C.         5*365+1=1726    >>    1726/7=246 + 4/7    >>    so June 25, 1987 is C ( because Friday plus 4 days)

I am not NN. My answer is D.

For condition 1
You can list the possible number of x & y and you will find
If x > y + 4, then 3x > 7y (base on x,y >0)
For example
x      y    3x     7y
>5   1   >15     7
>6   2   >18   14
and so on…

For condition 2
-5x < -14y   >>  5x > 14y  >> (5x)/2 > 7 y
because 3x > (5x)/2
so     3x > 7y

It’s time to sleep…

condition 1

0<y<3 ify=2   x>y+4=6   3x>18>7y=14    确定

y>3     ify=4   x>y+4=8   3x>24   7y=28   不确定

so condition 1不成立

condition 2

5x>14y   x>2.8y

3x>8.4y>7y

so ans is B
